I'm just letting you know that when you are all snuggled up in bed and having coffee on Sunday morning I'll be vomiting due to nerves as I'm running in the Chicago Marathon. This will be my first...and last. Training has been awful in both pain and consumption of time. I'm not meant to be a runner, this much I'm sure of. Hopefully I'll be able to cross this off my list as early Sunday afternoon hits.

I'll probably cross the start line around 8:15 CDT. I'm hoping to finish the 26.2 mile disaster in around 4:30. I'm sure they'll be adrenaline as 1.7 million people will line the streets to watch. Seriously...I've had butterflies for a week now. Ugh.

4:30 for a first marathon? That'll be a great time.

Have fun. As a former middle distance runner, I can tell you that if you aren't having fun, you'll make yourself miserable and sick. I can't imagine running that long, but I will be thinking of you, esp since I should be getting back to running what with my still-expanding waist line...

Good luck man. As a former OL, I completely understand the aversion to running long distance. I ran 10 yards, and fell down whether called for, or not! :D

How did the marathon go?

My uncle just ran in the Ironman at Kona on Sunday and set the Kona record for a 65 year old male. He was a full half hour ahead of his nearest age competitor. And he still finished 1300th....
