I just want to see what some of the Fantasy Experts from our league think of my other team...

The format is head to head...you set the team for the week. 16 Teams, 4 Divisions.

The Eligible Positions are: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OF'ers, Util, 4 SP, 4 RP, and 4 Bench spots

The scoring stats are:

Hitting- Runs, Homeruns, RBI's, Stolen Bases, Batting Average, On Base %, Slugging %

Pitching- Wins, Strikeouts, Holds, ERA, WHIP, On Base % Against, Save %

This is my team...

C- Buster Posey
1B- Ike Davis
2B- Brandon Phillips
3B- Casey McGhee
SS- Ian Desmond
OF- Mike Stanton
OF- Jose Tabata
OF- Tyler Colvin
Util.- Jim Thome
SP's- Roy Halladay, Tim Lincecum, Max Scherzer, Phil Hughes
RP's- Jonathan Broxton, Aroldis Chapman, Rafael Soriano, Tyler Clippard

Bench: Ryan Theriot (2B, SS), Bill Hall (2B, OF), Juan Rivera (1B, OF), Ryan Madson (RP)

I'd trade Broxton for a better 3rd OF/U bat and just punt sv%, you can then use 3 setup guys and win holds every week over teams with closers. That way its a push in those two categories and you can improve where it matters most.

Thats what I was thinking on the saves...I really like my starters and I'm hoping Clippard can get another 10 wins out of the pen like last year

I do really need another OFer/Util...Thome and Colvin are both going to platoon it looks like...

Saves and SB's are going to be thin. You have really good SP. I thought that Chapman was going to be in Reds' rotation (?). If so, then maybe deal an asset like Lincecum to get an OF'er who gives you some power, steals and a solid RP?

I'm hoping for SB's from Desmond and Tabata...Also, hoping to get 15-20 from Phillips, 10 from Stanton, 10 from Colvin...

Get small amounts from many people, but I'm hoping for 25 to 30 from Desmond and 35-40 from Tabata...

I think your projections are solid, Dan, but that yields about 90-95 SB's over 27 weeks, or just a tick above 3 per week.

I use a fairly common approach in setting up a team by setting "targets" for production. I then use projections from Zips, Marcel, and Bill James to rough out where players are likely to be. You can then get some idea where you might wind up.

Doing so in most leagues indicate that it takes a total 135 SB's to compete for that category each week in H2H. That runs an average of 5 per week. If your team can get you 5 per week, you are in the running.

Of course, that approach generally falls by the wayside if a guy you are facing has Pierre and Ramirez, or Gardner. But it works pretty well.

Essentially, you can make up this category with one OF'er or utility guy. Maybe look at Pennington at SS. He is healthy, and likely to steal 30-35 this year.

If you can mix in Pennington on off days for Phillips and Desmond, he will get you some SB's and runs on the cheap.

Also, in terms of saves, you need one guy. Given how this category unfolds every year, with guys taking over from nowhere and contributing big-time (Axford, Perez, Soriano, Hanrahan, Lyon last year, for example), just watch the closers who struggle. I suspect that if Papelbon's struggles from 2010 continue, then Bard gets a lot of saves this year.

Disagree about saves in a H2H league, you just don't need them if holds are a category. Basically if you start a mix of closers and setup guys to try an win both, you set yourself up to lose both just as easy. If you punt saves and employ great MR like you have, you almost always win Holds which offsets losing saves. You eliminate the category and can instead focus on the others. Plus by taking the best MR you get a ERA and WHIP bump that most closers don't give you.

Steals also hardly matter, you have 7 offensive categories, I'd go all power and try and win 6 of them. Its not roto, you don't need to do well in every category, you just need to win 8 of 14 each week.

Your SP is stacked with your big 4, so if you can just get 1 more power bat you'll look pretty good.

He already has the other categories, BD. The point is how to compete and win the others.

Also, top-flight relievers help quite a bit in WHIP and ERA. If you have three top-notch relievers, and three solid SP's, you are in the mix for basically every category.

Different theories. I don't want to go 6-4-4 every week. I want to go 12-1-1. Basically cannot do that giving up two categories and hamstringing yourself in two others.

The thing I have in my favor is that it's not save totals, it's save percentage...

I have one closer, and setup guys who might come into a game and get credit for a save if their teams add to the lead and they stay in the game for a 2nd inning...

That helps. Broxton is a decent, middle-tier closer.

Getting one closer and hoping that he goes 1-1 during the week is the way to go.

After the 1st week I am 1-0...

I made some roster moves. I dropped Thome, Bill Hall, and Juan Rivera and picked up Danny Espinosa, Milton Bradley, and Mark Trumbo...

So far the moves have paid off as Bradley and Trumbo have homered for me. Yahoo Sports is saying Bradley is playing with ear plugs this season. Whatever to keep his brains from oozing out...He was a good pick up for me a few years ago, and I am hoping he can continue this for a few months.

Mike Stanton and his hamstring are pissing me off. I basically played with 8 hitter the 1st week and two of them were platoon guys (Colvin and Thome).

My pitching kicked ass, and the save % stat is working in my favor. One closer and two setup guys are working. I'm already starting to blow out the stat category this week too...

Don't you have twelve categories to split up, such that you are 9-2-1, or something along those lines?

Only counting wins and losses, if there are ties the categories come into play...

Wow, one decision per week. Not many H2H leagues use that format.

A 3-game lead is substantial in your league. In my H2H league, it is nothing.

I'm hoping Broxton gets a save this weekend. I have no save chances from him this week and the team I'm playing had his guy blow a save, but he has the category won right now because 0.000% is better than 0 for 0...

Buster Posey stole 2 bases too...Holds and steals I'm running away with

Holds? Man, I could deal you Mike Adams and Sergio Santos. My bullpen is loaded with really good 8th inning guys ....

Regarding Broxton ... I am advising a sale when his price is high. He used to deal at 98 mph, but in his last game, I saw him dealing at 92-94 mph. His slider used to explode at 89-90 mph, but he was throwing it at 84 mph.

He is really not the pitcher he was three years ago. He struggled the 2nd half last year, and when the weather warms up, he is going to get rocked. A flyball pitcher dealing at 92-94 mph is going to have trouble, I suspect.

I suspect that you could deal Broxton straight up for Jordan Walden or Craig Kimbrel, two guys with outright filthy stuff and who are going to have pretty darn good save percentages.

I suffered my 1st loss this past week...There were 3 unbeaten teams and two of us faced off...I lost 9 to 5, and literally lost categories by one HR, .002 in batting average, and in save percentage (two of my relief guys got credit for blown saves)...And it's a team in my division.

Add to the fact the half of my team stopped hitting and was carried by Ike Davis and Brandon Phillips...Tabata, Posey, McGehee, and Stanton all stunk it up...

Now for this week's opponent: The other undefeated team.

Any way to deal Broxton for a better reliever? Broxton was hit around yet again on Saturday, against the butter-soft Padres, and was bailed out by a diving catch in LF.

He just looks like a walking blown save to me.

I dropped him and picked up Lindstorm from Colorado...I had Madson on my bench and he is now the closer in Philly...
