Not that we would root against the Pirates based upon fantasy baseball, as I just do not see that happening. We have hung through a lot of bad teams, poor personnel decisions, questionable management, etc. and that kind of loyalty is not going to waiver because some guy on our fantasy team is pitching against the Pirates.

I ask this because I was rooting for a Giants rally last night so that the Braves would have to bring in Wagner for a save. Rooting for a 9th inning uprising by the Giants for a lousy fantasy save ... this is why fantasy baseball is a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands.

Very dangerous.

It definitely skews my rooting interests...sans Pirate connection, of course. Shouldn't it, if you want to win?

Oh yeah, I always root for my fantasy players. Except against the Pirates. Though it wouldn't have killed me had the Pirates beat Haren 1-0 last night instead of scoring 6 off of him...

Yep. Like when you have two starters going against each other. Rooting for a 1-0 pitcher's duel, with dozens of strikeouts.

But I find myself rooting for Robinson Cano and Brett Gardner - two Yankees. Not an easy thing to feel good about.

No, because I only ever draft players that I like and/or CAN root for.

I never take Yankees or Cubs and take very few Red Sox or Mets.

I try not to put myself in a situation that might be a 'conflict of interest' because while I like to win, I'd much rather win with players that I don't despise.

I would truly rather lose with a team full of players with whom I have rooting interest than win w/ all Yankees.
