The dispersal draft is over, each of the new owners has 10 players. Keepers will be due March 20.

You can trade draft picks, but for things to work out, the number of draft picks has to remain the same (ie, if I trade a first round pick for a keeper, I would also have to get a draft pick back, but it can be a 7th round, 15th round, whatever).

So...being that I have the first pick overall...I would be willing to trade it for Albert Pujols or ARod ;)

The Polka have Ryan Howard or Miguel Cabrera available. Looking for an OF or MI in return.

I am a little lost... when do the excisting teams pick their 10 keepers?, can those teams still trade their complete roster? and then set their 10 keepers? and when is the complete playerslist available to see?

because that will depend if i want to trade my 2nd pick....

You can access last year's rosters on the yahoo league page. There is a tab by the standings that will link you to previous years (the tab is "all-time").

All keepers won't be due until near draft day. All 12 teams can trade players before hand. If you want an idea of who will be in the draft, you'll need to look at the 7 existing teams and project their 10 keepers. In most cases it should be easy to predict the main guys so you can get a good idea.

BTW, what are the yahoo team names for each of the new teams, I know PF_NL is Minsk and JimY is Derektown.

A quick note: When you look at least year's rosters, the positions associated with them are last year's eligibility. To see this year's, you would have to click on the Players tab on the top of the page.

An example from my team is Pedro Sandoval. He was eligible for C, 1B and 3B last season but no catcher this season. However, if he would catch 10 games (i think it's 10), he would receive catcher eligibility.

Question:

Is the league operating system going to log in the keepers, then keep track of eligible players for the "open" draft, similar to what happens when a league is formed each year and all players are in the "eligible" pool?

If not, then we will need to spend a God-awful amount of time figuring out who is available. No way I could do this with the keepers announced just one day before the draft.

That would require indexing the 70 additional players put in keeper status, cross-referencing with the rosters to determine who was unprotected, and then creating a list of players for each position.

Most league servers do this type of thing automatically, where the league is "new" and all players are eligible. I imagine the league data base can do the same thing with keeper leagues.

If we have to keep track of eligible players, without help from the league computer, then I will need to start work soon. Any info on this topic is appreciated.

BBF can correct me if I am wrong, but Yahoo does all of this for you. When he puts in the keepers, you will be able to see them before the draft starts under the roster link. All of those players will be out of the pool.

BuccoBoy, as always, is correct. I will upload the keepers prior to the draft, and those players will automatically be removed from the player pool at that point. The draft will then be 15 rounds.

Ty Wigginton and a two bags of popcorn. If Wigginton is removed from the deal, then just one bag of popcorn.
