I am ready to start trading if anyone else is. Ryan Howard or Miguel Cabrera are available.

Also, who is in from last year. Let's start recruiting for other owners if we need them.

Thanks for posting this bb. I've been meaning to all week. Hopefully we can get a dozen active owners!

It looks like we need three or four. Capps Crew said he wanted out, but he was actually active on Aug. 30 on that list.

I am slowly going through the end-of-the-year rosters to compile them into a spreadsheet so that I can keep track of keepers. My recollection is that we are keeping 10. There will not be an expansion draft this year. When we find out who will not be joining us this year, we will shop those rosters around to anyone who wants to get in. If we can't find enough people, we will find a way to auction off the pieces (maybe using waiver claims with the order being based on how last season ended), or just throw them all into the draft pool. First thing we need to do is get a head count of who is returning.

I'm in. IMO you should throw the leftovers from inactive owners into the draft pool. A possible incentive for new owners would be to reduce the number of keepers since some of the inactive teams probably don't have close to 10 decent keepers. My team was so so last year and I'm even struggling to figure out which "bums" to keep! ha Anyway, that's just a thought....I'm in however you do it. I enjoy this league because it is different from the others I'm in. Thanks for doing the legwork BBF.

I think 2007 was the last time I played Fantasy Baseball with the board. I abstained the last couple of years because I didn't feel that I would have kept as active as appropriate. My work schedule has changed since then (my last year in this league I was working a night shift schedule, making it hard to follow baseball properly). Working a regular day shift schedule, I shouldn't have any issue.

So...if a spot opens up, I would like to play if possible.

I've got both our Dutch friend and Chris Anderson in as new managers. I think we will probably still have room for more though if others want in.

What I am inclined to do is take all the teams without managers, and all the new managers, and put them in a hat and let Mrs. BBF (or some other neutral party) draw them out to match new managers with the new teams.

Hello to all, I'm the manager of Five Year Plan in the board league. I thought it would be easier to be included in the league info if I joined this board as well.

I'm a rabid Pirate fan, but I generally get my blogging fix on the CBS Pirates board. We have about 20-30 good regulars there and a good mix on the FC/NH bandwagon and those who are intelligently dissenting.

Anyway, I am certainly up for trade talks in the fantasy league. I am shopping Derrek Lee, Carlos Lee, Bartlett, Blanks, Carlos Gonzalez, and Fowler as bats and Lackey, Billingsley, Happ, Feliz as SP, as well as Bell, Aardsma, and Franklin at closer. I'm looking for 1 impact bat for a package of these guys.

Good to see you've finally joined an intelligent community of Pirates fans, John.

Feel free to join in the discussion on the Rotunda as well. A word of advice, though- add estrago to your ignore list to avoid the mind-numbing stupidity.

And for the other league members, John was a coworker of mine that I got to join the day before the expansion draft when someone (Jeremy maybe?) backed out. Let's not let him do quite as well this year, huh?

Still have not heard from rich. If he is in, then we have 5 vacancies, of which chris anderson and pf-in-nl will fill 2. So we will need 3 (potentially 4) more. I was going to pm rich since he doesn't post often, and after I hear back from him, post something on the rotunda.

He hasn't logged in since November so you might want to email him instead.

BBF, are you going to try to fill team for team or do a dispersal draft for the new guys? With so many new teams a dispersal may be the best way to go.

If there is an extra team left, would it be possible to allow a board member to operate two teams?

Since their is a GM overseeing things, there is no need to worry about shady trades, and a rule could be made about dropping someone from the roster to the waiver list...
