We have now completed our draft - with 100% live participation and no appearance by that dreaded German, Otto - so kudos to all. The draft went well, and the teams are very closely matched, per Yahoo's pre-season projections.

Three words of advice on the upcoming season:

  • We have three DL spots. Please check your rosters and use the DL spots, and update your rosters when appropriate.
  • The league has a 1450 IP maximum limit, but the way this limit works, if your team has 1449 IP coming into the last day, all IP on the last day count. I learned this 3 years ago when I noticed a manager had something like 1459 IP and asked how that could be. I learned that the cut-off is prospective only, and will not stop counting production mid-game.
  • We have a 50 roster move limit. My feeling is, "Why should active managers not be allowed to be even more active?" I personally don't like that limit, and am 100% willing to increase it to 75. Say the word.

This season is going to be close ... my hitting is good, my pitching not so much. Chris (Bierbauer's) has a very balanced roster. Robbie (Buccoblast) has a nice group of players due to his million early draft picks. Rich's Best has a quietly good roster, particularly when Darvish re-joins Texas' rotation. Dave's (#21) outfield is premiere.

Ian (Newman/Kramer) has the best MI in the league, and 3 crushing OF'ers. Chris' Bonds Bombers will ride that OF and superior pitching a long way. Dan's team has 7 very good hitters, and possibly the best bullpen in the league this year. John's Flying Beagles could hit 300 HR's, and that pitching ... wow. Really good.

Ken took over King-Kang and built his team on very good pitching and 7 elite hitters. Solid team. Chris' Spokane Pirates are another team built on very solid pitching, as well as a good infield and five thumpers.

Finally, Dutch ... somehow, some way, Dutch put together what may be my favorite team. He has the best infield in the league, dominant SPing and an elite pen.

I think the early favorite to win is Bierbauer's, with Dutch in pursuit, at least 5 other teams within striking distance, and the commissioner trading a bunch of players for draft picks beginning in July.

I'm always in favor of more ability to tinker! 75 moves sounds good to me.

I think 50 is plenty. I don't think too many last year bumped up against it. I may have been one of the few to get close. But the max innings prevents too much abuse of the added transactions so I won't complain if it's the will of the group to increase it.

I am going to log Motown as a no vote, making the score 4-1 in favor.

Deadline is tonight, 5:00 PST.

It is now 7-1, so the 75 roster moves wins. I will make the revision right now.

Sorry I'm late to this, not that it matters at this point but I would disagree and vote no. To be honest, the best way to do it would be for it to be set up as a faab system and you get so many units to play with. 150 for the season, you could have as many as 150 FA pick ups or 1 but I know that's not what we are voting on. 75 transactions are way too many. That is one transaction every other day.
