Two points.

First, I am going to install a snake draft, with Dan getting the first pick, me getting the 12th pick of the 9th round.

Second, Dan and I have made a deal. Here are the particulars:

Dan trades - his 2nd pick in the "open draft" (the last pick of the 10th round) in exchange for Bucfan's David Wright and Bucfan's 20th round draft pick.

Please lodge protests on the Yahoo site, or by sending me a PM.

I thought our draft order was always random because it was a snake draft. Who won the league in 2013?

Well checked my drafts, and not sure.. in 2013 draft i drafted on my position reversed standing, last year i drafted it seems as 4th and finished 4th...

so drafting randomy or in order is fine by me, if we have a few new teams i would prefer drafting random, if all teams stay i would draft on reversed standings..

I am 100% open to having the draft random, and we did a random draft for the first time last year.

Before then, the draft was set by finishing position the prior season, but a non-snake draft, like the NFL draft, for example.

We have never before had a snake draft based on last year's standings.

I am not saying which way to do it. But we did a random draft order the past two seasons and I am wondering the basis for the switch. There are pros and cons to both sides of each type of draft. We also did random draft order prior to 2010 and then switch for 2011 draft.

I appreciate you being commissioner bucfan, but I think things like this need to be decided by a vote.

With that said, the two choices are snake draft with random order or straight draft based on reverse standings. I am not sure why we switched two seasons ago but we did. Maybe someone can refresh my memory.

It can't be snake and reverse standing Dutch. Snake has to be random because some people view the last pick more valuable than the first pick. If you do reverse standings, it should be a straight draft.

My bad, always thought straight draft (reversed) was each round 12,11,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 starting each round with the last in standings

and that snake was 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 and back 12,11,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1

but then again, i am fine with all ways..

2. STephen Strassburg
3. Josh Donaldson
4. Chris Bryant
5. Jorge Soler
6. Jacoby Ellsbury
7. Robinson Cano

i tend to keep 7

Okay, I will put to a vote the issue of random order draft, snake draft, as we did last year.

I understand your concerns about draft order and really am not committed one way or another. I do believe that the #1 pick is superior to the #12 pick, however, since the #1, #24 and #25 picks >> #12, #13 and #36 picks.

Dutch - you have to keep 8.

Keeping 7 does you no good, since you will not then get the only "8th round pick."

The draft is starting in round 9, with each team designating 8 keepers.

I am not advocating either way for the draft. Mine was a simple question why we switched this year. I am for consistency. Again, I am not sure why we switched to random two years ago.

Since we are voting, I vote it should be a straight draft with reverse standings. That's the way it was for many years and makes the most sense in a keeper draft. Not against random-snake, but think the straight is the best way.
