The Clearwater Threshers are the High-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Bradenton, FL- The Bradenton Marauders (17-17) pummeled the Clearwater Threshers 16-3 Thursday night at McKechnie Field. The Marauders tallied a season high runs total and clubbed three home runs in support of Jameson Taillon (W 2-2).

Taillon pitched six innings for a third straight start, allowing no runs and striking out three. He allowed a season-high six hits, but was able to strand the bases loaded in the fifth when the Threshers mounted their best early threat.

Brody Colvin (L 2-3) walked the bases loaded on 12 straight pitches to start the third. RBI-groundouts by Mel Rojas Jr. and Alex Dickerson got the scoring started.

In the third, Wes Freeman connected on his first home run of the season. It was an opposite-field solo shot. A sacrifice fly by Gift Ngoepe later in the inning mad the score 4-0.

A three-run home run by Stefan Welch in the third started but the Marauders firmly ahead. The homer was Welch's team-leading fifth. He has homered in consecutive games. Welch finished 3-4 and was just a triple shy of the cycle. He extended his hitting streak to 13, the longest active streak in the league. Only three Marauders have ever had longer streaks.

In the fifth the Marauders exploded for seven runs, capped off by a three-run homer off the bat of Dan Grovatt. The home run was Grovatt's third bomb of the season.

Eight of the nine Marauders starters had at least one hit in the game. Seven different Marauders drove in at least one run.

Porfirio Lopez (SV 1) picked up his first save of the season by pitching the final three innings.

Surprised to see the Threshers starting pitcher was left in the game long enough to give up 12 earned runs, same as Burnett gave up, although he did pitch 5 and a third innings while Burnett was less than 3.

From what I understood last night, because other people wondered too, it;s a pitch count thing.
Win/Lose they want him to get the time put in.
