Why isn't Locke starting?

Why is Cutch batting fourth?

Why aren't the Bucs working the count (seven pitches seen in the first)?

Two questions: Will the Pirates ever score again and will the Brewers just pitch Jimmy Nelson against the Bucs so he can have a 0.00 ERA at the end of the season and win the Cy Young?

Leadoff double.
K.
Ground out.
Ground out.

That'd be 0-3 with RISP.

And the only run? A leadoff walk.

The Pirates are a train wreck right now.

FINALLY

Great job by Polanco, getting a hit and then getting to third on a ground out.

Also, outstanding at-bat for Cutch. A productive out, indeed.

And then it ends on a line drive DP. That's the way it has gone this season.

What's truly frustrating is that if nobody was on, the defense would have had the extreme shift on for Pedro. And the ball he hit would have been an EASY double.

*sigh*

That kind of season indeed.

Marte continues to exhibit inferior base running skills.

Some small ball for the Bucs. Single. Steal. Ground out moving runner over. Single.

Another steal. Another single. Two hits with RISP.

Somebody else explained the Locke issue, Cutch is batting fourth to keep the lefties and righties in the lineup broken up, and I have no idea is my answer to your third question. Sometimes I want to strangle those guys.

Well, look at the bright side. At least they managed to get a guy into scoring position, and that's something that hasn't exactly been a given for the last couple of games.

Defensive gem by Polanco saves the day. Now, lets get the run back.

Watching Polanco run at full speed is one of the most entertaining things I see in baseball. His knees and elbows are all going off in different directions, and it looks like he can't run at all, but those long, long strides sure do enable him to cover a ton of ground very quickly. Doesn't seem to take him long to reach top speed, either, which can be an issue for tall guys.

Rodriguez executes a perfect, if not textbook, sacrifice bunt to move up Mercer in the 7th. It wasn't textbook because the pitch would have crushed his skull if he hadn't gotten the bat on it.

So to the bottom of the 8th with a 3-2 lead. Wonder if the Bucs will put 3 up on the board so Melancon will once again avoid a save situation.
