Two of Detroit's regulars stroll into Pittsburgh batting .500 or better (Iglesias and Cabrera), another two over .400 (Gose and Kinsler), and another two over .300 (Cespedes and Avila). Here's hoping the Cole Train can cool them off...

First pitch delivered at 1:40 p.m., a ball just inside.

Cole keeping the ball low in the first inning. Almost all fastballs, ranging from 93 to 97 mph, with a slider or two thrown in at 87-89 mph. Results? 13 pitches, groundout, K, fly out.

J-Hay likes PNC Park. Homers on Anibal Sanchez's first pitch of the game, smoking the ball over the right-center fence.

1-0 Good Guys

Gerrit Cole dealing through 3 innings. He's got 4 Ks and has allowed only one hit, a single by Nick Castellanos.

Okay, listening to the radio feed, I really love Walkie and can tolerate Brownie, but the Pirates propaganda is a little too much. We know how great the stadium is. We know how excited the crowd is. We know how exciting this season could be. But it has been a non-stop Pirates lovefest. Man!

Axis Sally and Tokyo Rose were never this good.

1 hit, 1 walk through six innings. Cole is flashing his ace stuff today...

Well, the K story hasn't changed for the Bucs. 18 outs recorded by the Tigers so far. Nine have been Ks.

Sanchez K'd 6 Twins (which is a lousy hitting team) in 6 and 2/3 innings in his first outing. He has 9 Ks in 6 innings today. Brutal.

And Cole couldn't get through the heart of that lineup the third time. Too bad. Great outing except for one inning, See if the bullpen can bail him out.

Nice job by Hughes. Cole still in line for the win. Now, let's get that run back.

Watching at work. (Love my 3-screen computer hook-up and MLB.tv.)

Watched Cole load the bases, and then I go back to work for 5 minutes.

Came back, saw that Hughes had done what he is on the team to do - wow, kudos.

Then saw Pedro go yard, Cervelli single, Jordy with a perfect bunt on the 1st pitch, and Hart go yard. Impressive ...

Keep pounding, Buccos.
