I note that you conveniently failed to see this sentence:

"During the regular baseball season, both national and most regional sports networks reported viewer declines."

If you had checked the original article at Sports Business Journal, you would have read, "Television ratings for Major League Baseball games were down almost across the board, as the national networks and most regional sports networks suffered significant declines during the regular season."

"Fox’s MLB ratings dropped 13 percent to a 2.0, and its viewership dropped 12.5 percent to average 2.9 million viewers for its Saturday afternoon package."

"Local ratings were down as well, with 19 RSNs showing a dip — 15 of them by double digits."

http://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/article/60253

Note that of the 28 teams that had the information available, 18 lost a larger percentage of viewers and 17 lost a larger percentage in ratings.

But then, putting things in context would have made your post pointless, wouldn't it?

How many games in May and June that were televised the same night as the Pens on their Stanley Cup run?

Conveniently failed to see this sentence? It was stated right there in the article. Are you that paranoid to try and distort a simple fact? In context, the Pirate ratings and attendance are down. Ratings for most other teams are down. What is out of context? If I said the sky is blue you would try and come back try to pick that apart too.

I'm not surprised. The Pirates were a very bad team that was not fun to watch.

They were a bad team...but alot of people on here were talking how exciting watching this team lose was prior to July 31st...

I know personally nights the Pens were playing, I was not watching the Pirates...I might have checked on here or Yahoo for a score but I wasnt watching...

Oh well...just BH making himself feel good about bad news about the Pirates...

You only posted this as another attempt to denigrate current management. Either you didn't read the whole article or you thought that nobody else would.

For four months this was the most fun Pirates team to watch since at least 1997.

Subjective. I don't think they were quite that fun to watch; more fun than a lot of years, but I don't think they were the most fun since 97. Plus, the last two months count too, and they were f'n awful.

That so? I guess whoever wrote that article had the same thing in mind then...right? Just reporting the facts. Reporting the truth. You dont like the truth. Odds are favorable for this declining trend to continue.

No, whoever wrote that article didn't post it at a Pirate forum and has no history of ripping the Pirates. In fact, if you read the entire article rather than just the bit picked up by the Pittsburgh Business Times, the Pirates are barely mentioned.

I was deeply concerned when I read the title of this thread. I thought that my ratings were down 15% and was set to launch a counteroffensive to change this situation, when I realized I have no ratings.

Whew. I feel so much better now.

I have standards, ZM, they are just remarkably low. Look at the company I keep, for example.

Here is a group of my buddies enjoying a little football on the weekend:

Bullish has some really funny threads. He should charge a two-drink minimum.
