Ohlendorf (1-1 6.26) vs. Wolf (9-11 4.47)

Mc Louth - cf .278
Sanchez - 2b .263
Doumit - c .327
Ad La Roche - 1b .269
Michaels - lf .228
Pearce - rf .239
An La Roche - 3b .176
Bixler - ss .161
Ohlendorf - p .000

3-2 Astros after one inning.

Why is Michaels playing?

I'm guessing he wants more righties in the lineup against Wolf, and both Moss and Morgan are lefties. And we all know that winning a game against the Astros tonight is much more important than getting AB's for guys who will be key members of the team next year.

I chuckled at that.

I just turned the game on in the 6th, what happened to Ohlendorf, besides the obvious? His control numbers look ok. 9 hits though in 4 innings can pose a problem. Was he just grooving them?

Hey, we finally got to see instant replay. Went a lot quicker than I thought it would. Still don't like it though.

If it's used sparingly and only in game changing situations (i.e., home runs), I'm all for it. I like the NFL's system of coach's challenges, but it takes way, way too long.

Glad to see Pearce get one finally.

Agree, we need to play the kids all the time now. Michaels needs to sit. Why did he put Rivas in when Freddy went down? Why not Cruz?

Not a great performance, but I still took some positives out of this game. I love the live arm of Olendorff. He looks like he could develop into something.

Yes, Ohlendorf got too much of the strike zone on many of his pitches.

It seems to me that he shows the ball to the hitters too early. Maybe he can change his delivery to be more deceptive.

Great point, Ralph. There is definitely some refining to do there ... a lot of it actually. But he seems to have the raw talent, which is something so many Pirates don't have.

And he's not afraid to pitch inside either...
