The fact is I watched them all year. I think we can all agree they were a fun team to watch until July. I watched them closely when they acquired the new players, I watched them into their August slump.

They've gone 3-17 in their past 20, so between that and the fact that you can find a football game of some form on most nights of the week now, I'm not exactly compelled to watch Pirates baseball anymore this season. sorry but I gave up. Just like they did.
Sorry to get you Marys all worked up.

I think everyone here would be happier if you gave up the board, too.

Also, given your avatar photo (wow, man, "A Clockwork Orange," you're totally original and edgy) and your prolific use of emoticons and insults to express yourself, I think we all know who the dunce is.

Sorry to get you Marys all worked up.

You've watched them all year, but the only evidence you can produce for your assertion that they have quit is one guy failing to run out a ground ball.

Their record is enough evidence!

Their record says they are bad. It says nothing of whether they are trying. Stop making the same stupid mistake that omgardd is.

Nate just went yard. They're ahead 7-2 headed for win number 3 in a row. Sound like quitters to you?

nates black, blue, and lacerated eye speaks volumes about how much this team is not quitting. and could anyone give me a previous example from the past 16 years of the pirates making an effort to rebuild this team the proper way. people are still whining about how it was just a ploy to dump salaries this year with the trades and blah blah same old story. But has there been a more concerted effort before this year that you are going to lump the current front office in with the old?

Their record is enough evidence!

Their record is evidence of their talent level. Where is the evidence that they have quit?

Obviously there is none. It is a simple question. It can be answered simply, yet nobody can provide an answer.

If they give up more often than not, then an astute observer such as yourself could tell us what actions he has seen that caused him to form this opinion. So what actions have you seen that caused you to form the opinion that the Pirates quite more often than not?

Cutting salary was indirectly involved because the 3 big trade pieces just happened to be the higher paid players on this team...

maybe next time we can balance out the big salary trades by also trading away really terrible A or AA players that make like 25k a year for cases of baseballs, new fedoras, and shiny new cuff links. :P

They rarely battle more often it is this kind of story
The terrible starters give up a few runs early and the team falls asleep they dont battle back thye just sit there. They are terrible talent wise and they arent all that good effort wise.

Ha and dont even get me started on offseason conditioning. It looksl like our pitchers went into hibernation for the offseason.
