Has anyone noticed this whole series Jose Castillo has tried hitting everything to the opposite field, his single lastnight, his home run the night before...

Could it have finally set in, that if he wants to be a good Major League hitter he needs to go the opposite field? Maybe after hearing it from someone other than Jeff Manto, he realized its true?

Plus has anyone seen any pictures of him lately...He's the thinnest I've ever remembered seeing him...

True on all counts. But his pitch selection is still pretty bad. He just does not do a good job of waiting for a good pitch to hit, and goes after some pitches that are not very good.

Very, very few good major league hitters can get away with that. Vlad Guerrero ... cannot think of anybody else.

Nomar Garciaparra could in his prime; not so much anymore. Delmon Young is trying, but I don't think pitchers are stupid enough to give him a pitch even near the zone if he's going to swing at everything.

The combination of the terrible management(prior to 2008) and his attitude has led this guy away. If he gets his act together, he probably will be better that Bautista. I didn't want to see him go, but he was ruined by poor management decisions.

I don't think Castillo is as good as Bautista, nor will he be in the future.

Castillo is obviously highly motivated right now, which is good, but he still is just an ok ballplayer. I don't miss him. Even with our gaping hole at short right now, he is no better than Gomez.

I'll always miss him, as I remember him as the acrobatic second baseman with the club. That said, I don't think his bat will ever truly come around. He needs to get back to second if he wants to stay in the majors.

Castillo had been having a pretty good series against us, but it was only rightful that he would hit into the game-ending DP off of Capps to secure our victory last night. :D
