I am trying real hard to not get excited but he is starting to get it (fingers crossed he keeps it up). 5 HR 24 days into 2012 season...I'll take it.

I think he is just missing a hair on some of these outs as well.

He's in top 10 in league in HR!

I think he is tied for 4th depending on others tonight.

Small sample size not neccessarily telling stats, but...

The Bucs are 4-1 in games which Pedro hits a HR.

They're also 6-2 when he gets a hit.

He's certainly bounced back nicely from that horrendous 1-for-24, 12 K, .208 OPS start.

He's going to have raised his OPS nearly .600 points in two weeks.

So as bad as that lull was, I'll take it them if it means those kinds of tears follow to balance things out.

It should be little wonder that his hitting is so important to the team. With him doing what is expected, we are a winning team. The runs are coming better now. Note that Tabata is also back on his game as well. These two when coupled with Cutch, Walker, Presley et. al. make for a nasty possibility.

To me it looks like he's finding his swing. The HR's are coming effortlessly on some of those swings, and it reminds you of what excellent power Pedro actually has, yet we rarely seen. He's showing much better awareness up there at the plate. Actually hitting the pitches he should be hitting. I know the BB/K is still bad, but why would he have walks when no pitcher in their right mind would have walked him the first few weeks of the season? I think the walks will start coming now.

I think he is still watching too many strikes and getting into 0-2 counts.

But when he swings, he definitely looks more aggressive. He looked sheepish earlier in the season.

That's what has impressed me. He looks like he is not even swinging hard, and the ball just jumps off the bat.

I would not view that as worrisome unless the strikes he's watching are meatballs. Just because the pitcher throws a strike does not mean that Pedro should swing at it. Early in the count, Pedro should be looking for a pitch to crush. If he doesn't get it, he shouldn't swing.

That home run he hit last night was amazing. Hard to tell on TV, but to me it sounded different coming off the bat, which is what I remember folks were saying when he was coming up through the system. What a missile!!!

Sunday he got 2 fastballs down the gut to go 0-2. I've seen him do it alot.

I think he should be aggressive on the first pitch.

He looks more selective and is making good decisions on pitches to take, and pitches to take a hack at.

He took a first-pitch fastball for a strike after the HR, but the ball was knee-high, corner. He then was K'd looking on a fastball against Minor, but the ball was 6" outside.

He is swinging at hittable strikes, it seems to me. Isn't that always the case when a hitter gets hot?

That will create more problems than it solves.

It was a laser about 15 rows back. If he had gotten under it we might be talking a 500 foot shot.
