Yes, that's right, we are now tied with KC for the fourth worst record in the major leagues. After CC today, we may have fourth all to ourselves. So, we are probably going to be in position to go head-to-head with Boras again.

Is there any chance at all that baseball can change and give the Pirates a chance? This may be an impossible situation forever. The deck is so stacked against them.

It's no more stacked against the Pirates than it is the Brewers or the Rays, and look where they are.

I think the pirates should TANK give up lose the rest of the games so they can move up to the worst record and get the first pick in the draft! :D

I know its very early, in the prospect ranking process, but if they were to finish with the 4 worst record in baseball, Grant Green would look pretty good in a Pirate uniform, assuming he's not a Boras client.

Interestingly enough, Tanner Scheppers is ranked as the 5th best prospect as of right now in the 09 draft.

Because the kid was injured badly and wanted a very high bonus... he won't be #5 rated next season

Because, along with the aforementioned reasons, he couldn't throw a breaking ball.

Well why is he ranked the 5th best prospect at this point? He must have had a lot of talent that the pirates didnt get.

Correction: he did have a lot of talent. It is possible that after surgery, he may never regain that talent.

4. Grant Green, SS, USC

Green has exploded the last year, especially this summer in the Cape Cod League. He has an above average arm with good accuracy and above average range as well. At the plate is where he thrives. He handles the bat very well and his discipline is sensational. He has above average power right now, but that will probably increase as he develops. Baseball America put up a story on his Cape Cod League season that may have him overtake Ackley for the top hitter in the draft by the time June comes around.

I like the kid!!
