How many can you bring up? Could you have your whole 40 man roster? And as asked in the blog: does it count toward your major league time? How many options does the team have in sending down or bringing up? What starts his major league time for the purposes of free agency? Is it six years of major league time before FA?

You guys are much more knowledgable, so how bout helping a dummy out a little. Maybe some others need these answers too.

Rosters expand to 30 guys, so you're adding 5...

From the talks I've heard on the radio and tv its probably going to be Gorzo, Obendorf, an OFer (Morgan or McCutchen) and probably Bautista again...The management wants to give Nate some regular time off since he has played more games than any other time in his career...

Hell yeah!!! It's Morgan time!!!!

While I'm saying that to yank some chains, in all seriousness it will be nice to see him back up here. He's been playing well in Indy lately. I think he could still be a major leaguer ... maybe a reserve, but a major leaguer nonetheless.

Wouldn't bringing back Bautista negate the reason for sending him down in the first place? Specifically getting him more ABs?

Yes, but since Indy is done playing, its either 2 AB's/week in Pittsburgh or none at all.

You can bring up anyone on your 40 man roster.

Gorzelanny, Capps, Ohlendorf, Bautista, Bixler, Paulino, and Morgan will all probably be called up. Possibly even more than that.

Bringing Bautista up would not negate the reason for sending him down. The minor league seasons end around Labor Day, so it's either be on the big club or go home. He may as well sit the bench and possibly help the team.
