I'm seeing some internet postings indicating that the Alvarez deal is done. Initial rumor: $8M and a major league contract.

I have no idea whether there is any teeth to this at all.

Supposedly Rocco Demarro, a local sports radio host, is on the radio reporting it to be a done deal. $8 - $8.5 million. I hope a major league contract is not included, but won't think it to be the end of the world if it is.

I'd beleive DK of Rocco Demaro every day of the week.

As of 12:35AM, Jonathon Mayo is reporting Alvarez HAS SIGNED, and the Bucs got him to a minor league deal with a $6 mil bonus.

EDIT: DK confirms at 12:36.

I like the terms of the deal. IMO, we didn't overpay him by too much and I am very happy that it is a minor league deal. I knew that it would take until the last minute and Alvarez would be the one to blink. Perhaps the negotiating tactics of NH will have Boras respecting the Bucco Brass more in the future.
