Bases loaded, zero outs and....

Zero runs scored.

Hey, I understand this is all for the future, but I was just getting used to us being able to score in those situations.

It just ain't fair!

I am trying, trying hard to think that maybe this time the "trades" of top notch players for "prospects" will be different. I am trying hard to believe that, and I am hoping for it.

However, after 15 years of this, promises for the future that never pan out, and trading guns for guys who populate Altoona and Hickory, I am fearful.

Getting sort of fed up.

"You bastards! No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing."

Personally, being new to this team, I don't have 15 years of disappointment in tow, so I can afford to be - however foolishly - optimistic about our new manager Neal Huntington.

If this were the same as the last 15 years, then I'd sympathize. But looking at the prospects that came this year and the trade booty of years past, there's a clear difference in potential between the trade bounties of the two eras.

I'm not sure what you think the Pirates would accomplish with Bay and Nady still on the team. Lose less? I don't see a cognizable difference between winning 70 games and winning 75. Please don't get stuck on the "Drive for 75" mentality of the DL era. If the PBC is going to build a consistently competing team, it's going to have to build from the ground up, not the top down.

And just to add to this discussion ... the Pirates offense is pretty spotty right now but the starting pitching has looked very, very good. And oh yeah, when a starter has problems, the Bucs will not be calling up John Van benschoten to take a starting spot - instead, they will call up a guy who has very good stuff and who can throw a 95 mph fastball for strikes.
