I don't care how many gold gloves he won, those were for his bat. He would routinely misjudge routes to balls, misjudge pop fly depth, allow baserunners to get another bag, etc.

Even when he was with the Buccos he had no idea where to play in the outfield (especially when it was situational, i.e. up by one in the ninth) and his arm was lousy.

BS. Bonds is one of the best defensive left fielders in the history of the game. He was considerably better than average in center as well, but the Pirates happened to be blessed by one of the best in baseball at the time with Van Slyke. Bonds' presence in left enabled Van Slyke to cover for Bonilla's statue like range when he played right.
