Burnett's actually been coming around for a while. 7.36 ERA in May, 3.75 in June, 2.19 in July, 0.00 so far in August...

Very, very happy with the win today! Although he was hitless, Moss looks to me like a guy that wants the bat in his hands at the end of the game. He has a weird confidence to him. LaRoche II had some decent ABs too.

How long until pitchers and catchers report?? ;)

The young man is outpitching the veteran.. for now. Let's hope this keeps up.

Anyway is Xavier Nady the leading hitter in the AL now? Also how many at bats does Ryan Doumit need to officially be in the race for the batting title? Of course Chipper is way ahead.. I'm just curious.

Nady's NL performance is not counted in the AL batting race. He can't win the title.

A player must have 3.1 plate appearances for every game his team played to be considered for the batting title. Doumit is about 50 plate appearances away from that number right now.

He's probably about done but hey, 6 shut out innings already. I know he was running through the rain drops but he got out of the messes. Only 5 hits-- but 4 walks.

All in all-- much better then JVB and his friends.

Nice debut.

Who is JVB?

Beloved pitcher John Van Benschoten
