Just think, next year Nutting and co. should clear 50 million easy!

The usual 18-20 million from the "direct to his pocket" stadium streams and with a payroll of around 20 million he gets to skim off the revenue sharing-luxury tax money that somehow gets put "into the system" rather than into the big club's payroll.

I will start the rumour here first, Sheets to Pittsburgh in biggest deal ever for a Pirate.

You mean as a free agent this off-season?

I bet they are looking towards 2010 as the year to make the run. I just can't see it next season. Too many unproven players would be counted on.

Sheesh...Nutting won't be the only one clearing $50 mil then...Dr. Andrews will be nipping at his heels.

I was thinking the same thing, and I agree. There's a lot of money freed up. We'll see if they try to win or pocket it.

I think 2010 is when things would all come together, but that doesn't mean you don't attempt to win in 09. I think signing a starting pitcher would be wise. Unless it's a one-year deal, it would help you win in 09, 2010 and so on.
