Sounds like a future closer. Throws upper 90s. Former first round pick. I like what I've read about him so far.

"dominant closer"

Craig Robert Hansen (born November 15, 1983 in Glen Cove, New York) is a relief pitcher in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. A dominant closer out of St. John's University, Hansen was drafted in 2005 and quickly made his major league debut, but has since spent most of his career at the Triple-A level Pawtucket Red Sox. At 6-foot-5, Hansen reportedly can reach 97 to 98 miles per hour and mixes in a hard slider.[1]

Also, his numbers here seem bullpen-like. Started just 5 games in the minors (played in 80).

He may have talent, but he is still a minor league "prospect". With the way the Buccos deal, Bay is now gone and Hansen will no doubt develop arm trouble next week.

Just curious, but did you want something different for Bay or did you just not want to trade him?

Listen ... while I disagree with Steve 1118, I understand his position perfectly. A fan being against a team trading its best player is certainly a reasonable stance.

A better stance is hoping that your team will actually make the playoffs one day.

Do we know he doesn't hope that? Hoping something and offering an objective prediction are two different things.

I HOPE the Pirates make the plAyoffs this year. I HOPE Duquesne makes the Final Four next year . . .

Hoping that the Pirates will make the playoffs any time soon by holding on to players at the part of their career when the are most expensive and most likely to decline is a bit schizo, unless you are a Yankee fan.

I agree. But whether the Pirates made these trades, other trades, or no trades, I still would HOPE they make the playoffs.
