Assuming there are no more prospects to be had for Bay....rate the trades.

I'll wait until the trade is official before ranking.

Based on what happened with Nady and the false info that was reported before that was complete, don't you think we should wait until we officially here what has been traded before we rate the trades?????

Isn't that kind of like reviewing a movie based on the trailer before actually, well, watching the movie?

The deadline is 4, but we might not hear the official announcement until a little later. I want to wait until that.

It's now 4:40 and there is no official confirmation that Bay got traded to the Dodgers or not. This is why it's best to wait until things are officially announced before rating things.

I'm sipping some heavily spiked kool-aid...I gave them an A just from the initial reaction of the "experts" on ESPN right now.

When they found it was Hansen and Moss, they got a WOW from Steve Phillips.

I think the Nady deal was a B, while the Bay deal is an A.

When you trade proven vets for prospects, there is no way you can say if it was a good trade or not. Wait 3 or 4 years. In the meantime by doing this you are rebuilding and will suck.
Ask yourself this....what statue besides Clemente or Stagell will be built next with the way MLB and owners like Nutting conduct things?

Based on a tough grading scale, I gave him a C. It might be a little harsh, but to merit an A or B I would have to be more impressed than I am. While we definitely got some nice players with upside, we failed to land any can't miss studs, and in particular the area of starting pitching, which was seen as our primary need, we failed to land any elite prospects there. In both of the trades, the top prospect in the trade was a field player.

Who cares? First of all, I hate both of those statues. Second of all, If I want to see a statue, I go to a museum. Third, I prefer to watch free men play ball. It's beats watching pampered slaves.

Well if you hate a statue of Roberto & Willie thats your problem. Anyway the point is, when you keep repeating the trade for prospects when you will not pay a star player, how can you build a championship team? Lets say the Pirates drafted or traded for a Sidney Crosby type prospective talent. By the time he is ready to get a his payday market value, time to dump for more prospects and you''ll never have a Crosby statue.

NH gets a B+ on the bay trade and a C on the Nady Trade. An overall grade of B.

BH, of course you can't accurately grade the trade until you see how it turns out. I think the idea with this thread, though, is to rate it based on what we DO know now (projections, expert analysis, etc.)

B+ & C = C+ or B- :D
Projections = Incomplete...not enough data, still working on project

And if you hate the Pirates management, that's YOUR problem. I've mention my feelings on those monstrous statues one time. How many times have you spewed the same crap?

You know less about building a good major league ballclub than you do about sculpture.

Then why are you criticizing the trades?

And you copiously avoid answering burgh's question.
