but Ill take it over wanting to smack Littlefield in the back of the head

Just so long as this guy is not mentioned as a player to be named later and about whom Pirate fans would be excited:

Interesting page here: scout.com's minor league rankings for year 2007. According to this, Niemann is #15 (7th among pitchers) and Brignac is #26 (2nd among shortstops). For reference, McCutcheon is #2 and Walker is #100. JVB was inexplicably left off the list.

With the Ray's top three off the table, I like what we were able to get for Jason. Flash could be gone in the off season and we have another starter to prop up the pathetic rotation.

That's where we disagree, Jeremy. If the Rays top three are off the table, I don't make the deal.

They've been boasting about how they don't NEED to trade Bay, so if you don't get what you want, don't make the deal.

With the 4 p.m. ET Trade Deadline past, a baseball source in Tampa Bay confirmed that no deal was struck between the Rays and Pirates to send Jason Bay to Tampa Bay in exchange for prospects.

While there remains the possibility that another team could have snuck in an offer before 4 p.m., it appears right now that Bay is staying in Pittsburgh. No other substantial offers were known to be on the table.

Also, just noticed, some guy named Wieters is #6 on this list. Anyone ever heard of him?

I love dueling media sources.

I sure like dueling media sources a lot better than I like a bunch of media sources all quoting each other, like we had with the Nady deal.
