Interestingly enough, I'd rather have the Yankees make the playoffs ahead of the Red Sox. I can't believe I'm saying this because of my hatred for the Yankees. I just can't stand Red Sox fans anymore. The Nady/Marte trade gave me something to cheer for, I guess. That being said I hope the Rays run away with the Pennant and lose to the NL...unless they are playing the Cubs.

Great, great trade today for the Yankees. The Marte part of their trade with the Pirates made this possible.

Are the media lambasting Detroit for giving up a proven position player for a set-up guy with a history of imploding??

Just wondering.

So a 13 time all-star goes for a mediocre reliever, and there is on backlash.

Yet a lefty specialist and a guy in the middle of a career year go for four prospects, one a high-end prospect, and the Pirates were idiots.

This should show how biased baseball people are against the poor and how supportive they are for the rich.

My buddy a Yankee fan will be thrilled. Subtraction. His most hated Yankee was Kyle Farnsworth. Great deal for the Yankees. Who will catch for the Tige's? Maybe they could activate Lloyd .

Depends where you look. I haven't seen much in the national media, but there is plenty of uproar among Tigers fans.

"You have to have a catcher or you'll have all passed balls."

Casey Stengel, commenting on the expansion draft selection of a catcher, Clarence "Choo Choo" Coleman.

Someone I know in NY who has some connections to the team informs me that Posada hated Farnsworth. I'm also aware of one public confrontation between the two due to Farnsworth continually shaking off Posada.
Heard today on MLB radio that Rodriguez and the Tigers' staff couldn't get on the same page and that reports from Detroit were that the Tigers were looking at this as "addition by subtraction."

Sooooo .... both teams consider this "addition by subtraction"??

Hmmm. Maybe. Two negatives = a positive? Or something like that?

Wonder what would happen if Farnsworth and Pudge were on the same team? Farnsworth constantly shaking off Pudge, Pudge getting miffed about that and refusing to change the signal, the umpire getting irked at both, the batter calling time and stepping out, only to have the process repeated.

I would have liked to see that on the Yankees.

If I was Detroit I would not have just given up Pudge for Farnsworth straight up. I would have tried to get something more at least a prospect out of it. Although the Yanks lost 3 pitching prospects to the Bucs. I would have asked for one of their top prospects like Jesus Montero whose at single A but ranked in the top 75 prospects of the Minors this year.
