Jack Wilson has batted in the 9th 22 times for 84 plate appearances providing a .212 batting average. I'd call this a failed experiment but when will John Russell realize it.

I think he means Jack in the 9th spot should be stopped, not playing Jack entirely.

I suspect that he was refering to Jack batting in the 9th position as the failed experiment. i don't like it either, but I think it's just Jack returning to his normal batting average. Changing the order is not going to help our team, but evidence has to be in runs and wins.

Wilson is very good defensively and he hustles all over the field but he can't hit period. He is not going to hit .300. We forget that he missed all spring, and so his batting 300 for awhile in June was just like a good 3 weeks at the beginning of the season.

Yes, Wilson in the 9 spot is the failed experiment but honestly, isn't it time to cut his salary for a cheaper version while maybe acquiring someone with the potential to provide something more than average.

It would be a nice thought, but sadly, he'd be missed too much for his defense

Just think, this pitching staff could be alot worse not having Jack out there...

I'd only trade Jack if they could get a replacement guy for a year or 2 until they can make a deal to get a stud SS...

There is no way I'd trade Jack just to save money. He plays until we find someone better.

The guy is obviously not a real good hitter, but to say "he can't hit period" is inaccurate. His career OPS is .687. I don't know what the league average for shortstops is, but I think he hits ok considering his defense, baserunning, and intangibles.

I hate the pitcher batting 8th in our case. We don't have Pujols or anyone of that caliber in our lineup.

I think it's highly disrespectful to take a quality veteran like Jack and make him bat 9th. Jack should bat 8th. This is a failed experiment that never should have been tried in the first place.
