Come on man, you can't be defending this trade? Experts from ESPN to Baseball Pospectus are saying it was a bad deal. You're speaking of the trade based on how you hope it turns out instead of how experts are projecting it will work out.

For the record, it's 1:24 AM on Saturday and nothing good or bad has been said about this trade by Baseball Prospectus.

I also note that "expert" is a term rarely heard about ESPN's announcers.

I couldn't agree more Parrot. Look at the numbers throughout these guys careers as they have progressed through the Yankees system.

Buster @#$%ing Olney? Who gives a @#$% about Buster @#$%ing Olney?

The fruits or not of this trade will be seen in the next two years. That's just the way it is. That's baseball.

You have no idea what was offered or declined. Eric has no idea. Kevin Goldstein has no idea.

That should be your starting point.

No I don't, but other GMs and baseball execs who contact Buster Olney do know.

Yep, and each of them has his own agenda. He's got to explain why HE didn't get Nady or Bay. Are they going to say, "We really wanted them, but we only offered up a bag of balls in return", or are they going to say, "We made a better offer and Huntingdon is an idiot"? Remember, these are the same guys who were whining that Huntingdon's asking price was ridiculously high just 24 hours earlier.

You really think GM's contact Buster Olney? I can see it now.

Phone rings:
Buster picks it up and listens.
"Buster, hey it's (your GM of choice). What'd you think of that Yanks-Pirates deal? Jeez, can you believe that is all they got? I am pissed. We offered them (choose your lopsided deal) and they turned us down. Can you believe it? Anyways Buster, don't quote me on this ok? Hey, I gotta go. I am still talking to them about Bay so who knows? Say hi to the wife and kids. See you."
"Thanks, see you (your choice of GM)."

So many experts.

Baseball is very slow moving. It's the nature of the beast. Other sports make a trade and everyone can see the immediate impact. Not so with baseball. It takes years for talent to develop into major league ability. Football and basketball are immediate. You get player and he starts.

Hard to judge trades in baseball cause you need the sand to go through the hour glass before the answer becomes evident. We all need to relax here a minuet and think about long term all those who left and those who are coming.

And this from a guy who loves Nady. Wish him well.
