I keep reading about other GM's frustrations with NH's "extreme" demands for his commodities. I am curious how much of this is the attempt to "bully" the rookie GM or if the other GM's were just so use to Littlefield giving away talent.

"Hey Dave, we want to give you 'K'ose Hernandez, Matt 'Freakin' Bruback and Bobby 'King of the' Hill. All we ask for in return in Aramis Rameriz and Kenny Lofton", Cubs GM.

"I don't know...I think that we better throw some cash into that trade, too." Littlefield replies.

"Sure, how much do you want to give us...."

To be fair to Littlefield (or not), actually he seemed to have a laughable reputation for asking way too much in trades. However, because he bit on a couple extreme laugher trades (like the one you point out), his credibility was severely damaged. To be truly honest, I think Littlefield sucked. Nonetheless, the reason he traded A-Ram had more to do with finances than his ineptitude. Having said that, I would have rather the Pirates fire me then make that trade. I consider that trade the worst move I have ever witnessed in sports.

This is Neal's chance to establish himself as a solid GM. He's not going to give away Nady or Bay just because it's the big bad Mets asking.

Maybe the headline should read, "Huntington frustrated with garbage other teams offer for quality outfielders, best L-handed reliever on the market."

I was thinking the same thing about bullying the new GM. I'm very glad NH won't give the pieces up without getting fair return.

That said, I think the top GMs make it happen. Hopefully NH will push back and get what he desires in return.

I'm very curious to see how the next week plays out. It will reveal a ton about NH and, in turn, the team's future.

I am so embarrassed by the way NH is being too demanding in his request for talent in return for our trade pieces (HEAVY SARCASM ALERT). ;)

Who gives a crap if all the teams are "put off" by the asking price, they can all kiss our collective arses. Gone are the days that we should bow down to the Yankmees, the Mets or any other teams. I laugh at all these "rumours" or "reports" that say the Pirates are interested in this guy or that guy. The only position the Pirates should be "interested in," is starting pitching. We certainly have a glaring weakness and lack of depth. We definitely don't need another outfielder.

Right On!! Don't budge, Neal. Make 'em give you what YOU want, not what they want to give you! If they don't comply, let them eat dirt! We have nothing to lose....if guys leave through free agency, we'll get draft picks the next year. Stick to your guns, Neal!

I'm not an english major, but isn't there something that describes a "permanent" word, or group of words? "DL, you idiot!" is just the base, the setup. You can work all kinds of descriptions off that base, e.g., "Make the trade, DL, you idiot".

And DL proudly announced that a big move had been made, and the Pirates were thrilled to welcome Matt Morris to the team.
