Well, what do you think? How many innings will he go and how many runs will he give up???

Looks like you were wrong. He won't get out of the second like this -- 49 pitches and 5 runs. No help by the fielders who had 2 errors.

Errors aside, it looks as though Morris must have been throwing batting practice again.

Each start is turning out to be worse than the one before. He isn't fooling anyone anymore: 41 hits, 24 earned runs, 7 walks, and a 9.67 ERA so far in 22-1/3 IP. Those are brutal numbers.

He should do the honorable thing and retire.

This is so disappointing. We're obviously conceding every game we run Morris out to the mound. I'll take it one step farther - I feel right now like we only have a shot 3 out of 10 games: every Snell start and every other Maholm start.

I think Dumatrait may be a better option than Morris at this point. Heck, Dumatrait's line this evening was pretty good: 4 IP, 5 K, 1 BB, 2 runs allowed, 1 earned. Maybe it's time to make the switch.

I watched a replay of the game. Dumatrait looked good. I would take him or any other pitcher in the Bullpen or at Indy instead of Morris. Mr. Morris needs to the honorable thing and retire.

Never going to happen. He's owed $10 million. He's not just going to walk away from that. The Pirates need to do the smart thing: eat the money and release him.

Maybe we can change the name of this post to "Morris is gone after tonight"? :D

What a gutsy move by the Pirates to release Matt Morris. Now lets hope Huntingdon isn't too proud to admit his own mistakes when he makes them. Dumatrait, Burnett or VanBenschoten as permanent replacement? I think Dumatrait can only make a handful of starts. How about trading Nady now for pitching? I know he's our best player right now, but he won't get any better than he is right now. Sell high Huntingdon!

Right about now would be a fantastic time for some star outfielders on contending teams to go down with injuries. I'd like the Bucs to have a little negotiating leverage heading into the trade deadline.

Does this officially make the Morris trade Littlefield's worst? I know that's setting the bar pretty high, but this one is BAD.

As for his replacement in the rotation, I hope that Dumatrait is only for a start or two. Huntington needs to get someone in here ... be it a young guy with a high ceiling or a stop gap from the waiver wire, some depth needs to be added.

Actually, I knew they didn't add enough pitching dept this offseason. Too many question marks. Look at where we're at now ... imagine what happens if one of the other starters gets hurt? No depth.

This move sucks and is awesome. After giving up a player and taking on all that cash you'd like to get something for him or from him. But who would want him???????
