Jeremy Farrell is tearing it up at State College. Hitting .357 with a near 950 OPS. I believe his father has some baseball pedigree if I remember correctly. 3B to boot. Anyone seen him play?

His old man is John Farrell, pitching coach of the BoSox

Read somewhere he was the #7 rated 3rd baseman in the draft this year

Some good genes there. Jarek Cunningham at Gulf Coast has been ripping it too. Another 3B.

Cole White is even hitting better then Farrel at State College. He is hitting .369 in 17 games. Calvin Anderson got raw power but is only hitting .253 and high strike out totals but he is leading the team with 18 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

Farrell is from nearby Westlake, Ohio (a few miles from my place.) His father bought a home here several years back. The youngster went to the same school as Matt Kata (St. Ignatius High.) I would have gone to some of their games had I known we'd be drafting a player from there.

Ollie -- St. Ignatius is a powerful high school football program in Ohio isn't it? Was it Bernie Kosar who played their? I know there were others. Remind me?

Cole White extended his hitting streak to 16 straight games for State College. He has only played in 18 games so that is pretty impressive. Anderson went 6-11 in the last series bring his average up to .273

Anthony Gonzalez, Chris Hovan, and LeCharles Bentley to name a few.

Here's a link to a more complete list.

Bernie Kosar went to Boardman, near Youngstown. They are an arch rival of St. Ignatius. The public school in my city here (Lakewood High School, Lakewood, Ohio) scrimmaged St. Ignatius last year. They beat us something like 70-0.

Phil Donahue also went to St. Ignatius btw.
