First off, for those of you on this board were likely in the dark on the following. Since May, I've been not feeling general head aches and migraines. I went through the usual gambit of tests (brain MRI, EEG, etc) and a few things came up, ie a spot on my left brain. Thankfully, last week I found out it wasn't cancer and only have to worry about seizures and a sinus problem. This would be the main reason for my inactivity on the board. I'll take daily headaches and the 3-4 migraines per week than have to deal with cancer so its a win in my book.

Now speaking of wins or maybe in the Pirates cases, not enough, rather than rehash a 1st half report card, I'll just say Dejan's grades were on the mark.

I think our new GM has a great opportunity to turn guys like Nady, Wilson, and Marte at their peak value into top notch prospects and ready for the gasp, starting pitchers at that. If they move Wilson, they'll need a long-term replacement at SS.

Eric, it is truly good to have you back in circulation. One can only imagine how relieved you must be, not to mention your young family.

Eric, sorry to hear of your poor health. Glad that you have avoided cancer. I hope there is some solution to your issue as daily headaches while endurable are not pleasent experiences.

I've had postrate cancer and my wife has had breast cancer, so I know first hand your concerns. Lucky for us we both were very early diagnosis and therefore cureable. Hers was three years ago and mine two. Changes your perspective on life in general.

Hang in there, your on the road to recovery and that is a good thing.

So, straighten out this team, will ya?

Glad to hear your back in action. Several months ago I had to change my diet due to health reasons. Better than the possible alternative. I had migraines as an adolescent and have them once every 3-5 years now. They are not fun but there are treatments.

Hang in there!

Glad have you back on board Eric. Take care of yourself and your family first and if you have time throw a post or two in here. We'd love having you back in circulation!

Eric -
Sorry to receive the news about your health but I'm glad the news was not as bad as it could have been. I'm sure that it has been a psychological nightmare and I hope that you feel as though some of the "weight of the world" is off of your shoulders.
Take care of yourself and welcome back.
Best Regards,

Good to hear that you do not have cancer. Very good to hear that. I hope that the headaches and migraines can be controlled with medication, and wish you the best.

Eric - I was wondering why the silence. Have you been off work as well?
Good to know that it is nothing life-threatening and glad to have you back.
Best wishes to you and your's.

Bertie - I didn't miss any work, battled through the migraines and worked around the doctor appointments. I was on vacation and it consisted of doctor visits so not much of a rest. Today's been a good day so far, no headaches but that's tempered with the realization that I have to clean the living room before my wife gets home. Perry really went to trashing the room today with all his toys.

Eric:

Glad to hear it isn't a worst-case scenario, however, as a long-time migraneur (my pediatrician had me taking 4 extra strength tylenol almost daily by the time I was 10) I know your pain. Also, as someone in the medical profession, I have heard and tried just about every solution. If you ever want to hear what works (and what doesn't), shoot me a PM.

Perhaps the worst part of the migraine headache is that those who have never had a migraine think you are a baby for complaining about a little headache.

There is nothing "little" about a migraine.

I have never experienced a migraine. Wife suffered migraines for maybe 6 months - vision changes, nausea, absolutely debilitating. She would go into a dark, quiet room, take 4 Tylenol and wait for the pain to ebb. No idea why they started, but I was pleased that they just seemed to go away.

Welcome back Eric! Let's hope that your health problems and the losing ways of the Buccos will soon be a thing of the past...

Welcome back Eric. So glad it's not cancer. Hopefully you can get the headaches under control, too. Good luck!

Eric,
Are you sure the headaches are compounded frustration from the last 15 years of Pirate Baseball?

Seriously, glad its not bad, and hopefully the headaches can be kept in check...I had a kid on my wrestling teams that had them and it was tough on everyone watching
