Here we go again...

14 straight games against 3 teams doing worse than the Pirates. Being 6 games under .500 we all know that this will be the perfect opportunity to hit that elusive mark and maybe, just maybe have a willing record going into August. What do you think the resulting record will be after this 2 week stint against teams worse than us?

4 games @ Colorado (39-57 .406)
3 games @ Houston (44-51 .463)
4 games hosting the Padres (37-58 .389)
3 games hosting the Rockies (39-57 .406)
Your Pittsburgh Pirates are 44-50 .468

If the trend continues, I would expect our offense to pound the crap out of the ball at Mile High and take 3 out of 4 against the Rockies.

Maybe 2 of 3 from Houston...depending on pitching match-ups.

3 out of 4 from the Padres. Do they have those camo uniforms for the road?

Another 2 out of 3 against the Rockies at PNC Park. Unless the Pirates sweep in Colorado, then I feel like the Rockies will look to embarrass the Buccos at home.

Over all, I'm predicting 10-4 on this trip putting us at 54-54 for the season.

Maybe for a winning team, but you forgot that the Pirates are not very good and are losers. Care to wager on your prediction?

Sometimes I think we forget that those easy teams have a similar record to the Pirates. We do have a losing record too. Granted the sehedule has been tougher for us, so we'll see.

Because we're so pathetic on the road, my guess is we win no more then 3 of those first 7. At home we should be able to win 4 or 5 of 7.

My guess is we go 8-6 but I hope it's the 10 you suggest.

The Pirates look to draw Ubaldo Jimenez, Glendon Rusch, Aaron Cook and that journeyman "TBD" (probably Mark Redman) during the Rockies series. Of those four, Jimenez has pitched the best, recently. Cook is still the main man of the rotation and a very good pitcher, but he has slowed down somewhat in his last five or six starts. Cook may actually be pushed back to Sunday, due to his All-Star Game appearance.

I think Friday is the key game in this series. If Snell can pitch well, the Bucs have a strong chance to win the 4-game series. One possible sign for optimism: I believe Snell struck out 10 or 11 batters at Coors Field, during a start in 2006.

Look for Yer Pal, ES, out in the front row of left field the next three nights. Wearing my Clemente t-shirt jersey, tonight.

7-7.

They can play .500 ball against bad teams.

Tempted? C'mon, you made your point, now put your money where your mouth is. Show some confidence with Bob Nutting's team. Look at that Cup Cake 14 game schedule..all those losing teams....just dont remember the Pirates are losers too !!!

Hey Capp -- good thing you only thought about the bet. Don't see us going 10-2 the rest of this way.

I hope we don't self destruct completely in the coming weeks.

I looked up "self-destruct" in the dictionary. The definition was "to score only two runs off of Glendon F&*^ing Rusch at Coors Field".

Well it looks like that prediction was right for a good team playing the weak teams, but the Pirates happen to be as usual, a weak team. Care to wager if they'll finish at 7-7 instead of 10-4? 10-1 odds?

I wish I were confident enough in this team right now to make that bet.
