Gallagher got fined for hitting Rickie Weeks on July 10th...

Quote:
"It was ridiculous," Gallagher said of the fine. "My agent texted me [about it], and I replied, 'Funny joke.'

"The first game I got traded over here. It was an inside fastball I tried to throw the heck out of. It's not my fault their guys get hit all of the time.

"I think the thing was really questionable. The fine came out a couple of days ago, and Macha complained to MLB when they were in Atlanta [last week]. Shoot, all you got to do is look at my numbers: I don't have the greatest control right now. "

Gallagher said his agent is appealing on his behalf.

I got to call bullshit on this one...I say we take up a collection for Gallagher on the condition the next time he drills Weeks in the ribs...

Another fine coming?

Brewers manager Ken Macha was asked Sunday where the needle sits on the toughness meter for second baseman Rickie Weeks.

"It's off the charts," said Macha. "He doesn't have a needle."

Weeks' toughness was on display again Saturday when he was struck squarely on the ear flap of his helmet by a 94-mph fastball from Washington's Collin Balester.Weeks shook it off, remained in the game and ignited the winning rally in the bottom of the ninth with a one-out single.

Weeks was back in the lineup Sunday afternoon, wearing a new helmet to replace the one cracked the previous evening. He socked a two-run homer in the fourth inning, his 20th of the season.

Once again, it bears asking ... why has Rickie Weeks been hit 20 times, the most in baseball by a significant margin?

Is it because almost inexplicably pitchers are going after him more than much better hittsrs - like Miguel Cabrera, Albert Pujols, Joey Votto, Evan Longoria? Or even better hitting second basemen, like Robinson Cano?

Or could it be ... I don't know, SATAN?!?!?!?

Err, I mean, because he leans over the plate every freaking pitch?

Dan ... that pitch would have been a strike if it was down in the zone.
