Could not have asked for a better game to introduce spouse to Pirates at home in 2010.

1. Starting pitcher pitches just well enough to lose. One bad innning for Paul, and then he goes six.

2. Error or other screwup opens the floodgates for other team. Tabata misplaying that flyball to start the second that McCutcheon would have had in his sleep.

3. Early in game; Pirates have runners on first and second with zero outs, and fail to score a run.

4. Garret Jones fails in the clutch ("Mr. Solo homer and ground ball back to the pitcher with the guy on 3rd and less than two out" strikes again)

5. Lastings Milledge drives in two with men in scoring position. (a positive, but I still hate Milledge)

On the plus side.

Nice job by Carrasco to halt the bleeding after Donnelly walks everybody in the park except the hot dog vendor.

Great catch by Milledge in a key situation (I still hate him though and hope we get a real right fielder in the off season)

Sad to say, but this is such a different lineup without McCutcheon and Doumit

Because Milledge apparently raped and killed a young girl in 1990...

He was precocious. He received his first parole hearing in utero.

Milledge drives people in - should be batting third with Cutch out, behind Tabata and Walker. Move Young or whoever down to sixth.

I just don't feel he will ever put his head together and be a complete Major League Player.

I am still steaming about the four or five games in April and May that he cost us with bone-headed, "they should teach you that in t-ball" base-running.

And on a personal note. I hate his stupid first name. I hate saying it. I hate seeing it in print. :D

And on a serious note. This has nothing to do with any alllegations of sexual misconduct on his part in his past. Truth be told I never really read any details about that and don't care to. This is a purely baseball and stupid first name dislike on my part.

I guess he could change his name, but you shouldn't hold that against him. That's his parents' fault. The base running gaffes, on the other hand, are a problem, though as I've seen elsewhere, there is a lot of that all over MLB. Fundamentals are missing these days, kind of like free throw shooting in the NBA.

As a Pirates fan I really want him to succeed, because he's young and cheap for a while and has a lot of potential. The Pirates can't afford to dump too many guys like that. Church, however, is free to head to Indy ASAP and ride the pine there once Cutch is healthy.
