It's great that thanks to Nate and Doumit, people actually need to remember the Pirates this season.

I actually just checked their archives, apparently this guy wrote similar columns earlier on Nady and McLouth

Nady

From the article:

Why is he starting to figure things out this year?

Everyone in Pittsburgh has known for the past couple of seasons that Doumit is a very capable hitter. Juat watch him swing from the left side. Memo to Dave Feldman, baseball does exist outside of Boston, NY, LA, and Chicago. You should check it out.

25 RBIs out of a catcher isn't exactly great fantasy material.

Context. Compared to a McCann or Molina, he's done that with about 125 fewer ABs. If you factored in lost ABs, he'd be near the top in RBI.

Even without the 125 ABs he's still in the top 5 in: HRs, Runs, Ave, OBP, and SLG. With the exception of SLG, I've played in leagues that use all those stats.

I need runs and RBIs out of my catcher.

If Doumit could stay healthy, he'd give you both. I'd take him right now over what I have, a DLed Victor Martinez and Kurt Suzuki.

I have Suzuki right now. Not bad in my lineup actually.
