More pitching coming to town...

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08181/893565-100.stm

Quote:
The Pirates today optioned starter Ty Taubenheim back to Class AAA Indianapolis and recalled reliever Romulo Sanchez.

Taubenheim pitched six solid innings in the 4-3, 13-inning victory against Tampa Bay last night.

Sanchez, whose tour with the Pirates will be his second, had a 2.85 ERA and four saves in 25 appearances for Indianapolis.

I believe that brings the total to 73 pitchers up and down from Indy since last Sunday

Am I missing something? Is Jimmy Barthmaier gone already too? I think we should keep Ty T.

Agreed. I would much rather see Taubenheim pick up another start this week than JVB. Who knows though, maybe this is just to get an extra arm in the pen and Ty will be called back up Wednesday.

You must wait 10 days after sending a guy down before you can call him back up again unless somebody goes on the DL, so Taubenheim won't be back this week unless another pitcher goes down.

Yeah, I know. I wouldn't be surprised though if they DL Bautista.

Nutting owns a 6 seat tri-motor that has Indy in its auto pilot. Saves on commercial you know. No snacks and carry your own bags.

Looks like more moves are going to happen...Duffy needs to be put back on the 40 man roster, and removed from the DL...if VanBenschoten is hurt or poops his pants again...Herrera might have to rent a car from Hertz and drive 2 hours from Altoona

The Pirates continue to list their Wednesday starter in Cincinnati as tentative. John Van Benschoten is the top choice, Huntington said. But, if his right shoulder flares up in the interim, it will be Yoslan Herrera or Bryan Bullington.
