Not a bad night for Doug M. For one, well, he's one of the only guy who has hit, and two, that was a hell of a diving catch on the line drive earlier in the game.

Anyway, looks like a lead-off single by Freddy is gonna go wasted here.

And the top hitting outfield in the league is a solid 0 - 15 tonight!

Anybody notice? Nyjer Morgan was hitting .239 when he was recalled. He has just lowered his batting average by 100 points.

Had his line drive back at Halliday been a couple inches any other direction we would be talking about how he was the offensive hero of this game. :|

I just fear that soon we are going to have to turn to a Sean Burnett or a Franquelis Osoria. In that case, I'm frightened.

Who do we have left to PH for Yates?

EDIT: Can't believe I forgot about Michaels.

Error or not, Jason Michaels to the rescue again!

Man this was a much-needed win.

What did he do? ESPN still has him looking at strike one.

It was an error on the Blue Jays SS. Michaels hit a bouncer to short, he rushed in to get it and had the ball go off his glove, Mientkiewicz scores, ball game.

I can't remember a scoreless extra inning Pirates game. I bet it's been a long time since we've had one.
Who's gonna pitch the 10th for us?

I'll try to see if I can pick up the Toronto station on my car radio. lol

Brown mentioned on radio that the only other scoreless tie that went past 9 innings in PNC history was in 2002 vs Atlanta. Bucs won that one 1-0 in 10 innings.

But the scoreless game that I kept thinking about tonight was also on a fireworks night back in 1997...the Cordova/Rincon no hitter.

Went to the game...no particular observations that weren't mentioned already. Halladay is as solid as they come...every year he has good numbers, and he showed why tonight. My only comment would be that we had runners in scoring position with him out there and those are the situations we needed to capitalize on. Had we lost, those would have stood out in my mind.

And, my friends and I were ripping the decision to start Doug over a fairly hot Bautista (seriously, the next person who calls him Joey Bats...I'm going to poke them in the eye or something). So, of course, Doug is the centerpiece of the game with some great D, a solid night offensively, and scoring the winning run.

And also, PNC Park is beautiful. Yeah, everyone knows this. But it is nice to take a few steps away from my neurotic obsession with this team, leave the scorebook at home, and enjoy a nice game with my wife and friends. Beautiful night, and I think I would have enjoyed it regardless of what this team did, which is far and away from what I have been like the past few seasons.

A nice night for Doug M. He deserves another start tomorrow night.

What's the deal with the red jerseys again? They are worn during Friday night home games?

Yes red is only Friday nights at home. I'm starting to like them. Maybe they'll become our lucky Friday night shirts.

Real nice win. Saw only parts of it as we were visiting with in-laws from out of town. Nice evening all around and without beer!

I believe Huntington said the reds wont be back next season and the only reason they are wearing them this year is because they were too late getting the paperwork in to MLB to make the uniform changes because of the change in the front office...

Zack Duke did exactly what a stopper is supposed to do. Great effort.

I know I'm in the minority, but I actually kind of dig the red jerseys.
