1 year, $8 Million

Damon hit .282 with 24 homers for the Yankees last season and is expected to lead off for the Tigers.

How much was Damon likely to get if he was offered arbitration from the Yankees?

The Yanks, the defending World Series champs and one of the favorites to win it all this year, wanted him back at something around 2 years and 19 million. Instead, Damon wanted to be a badass and not take a paycut. So now instead of trying to win another World Series in the NY, he'll be trying to unseat the Twins from atop the AL Central in the D.

Good move Captain Caveman. At least now he can grow his beard back out.

I saw an interview with Damon today and he was pretty candid that the Yankees made their offer pending Nick Johnson's reaction to their offer. If Johnson said no, then the Damon offer was there. But, Johnson signed and Damon moved on.

Nick Johnson? Don't you mean Nick Swisher? Nick Johnson hasn't been with the Yankees since 2003.

Johnson signed with the Yanks over the off season...He's supposed to be the starting DH

Oh. Hmm. Not that I want to turn this into a Yankee-focused thread, but I wonder what they plan on doing w/ Matsui?

Man, ever since I started practicing law I've been so uninformed about baseball moves.
