Ollie-- I have also enjoyed and coached high school ball for many years. I'm glad you still get a kick out of it. I guess that I've been to too many games cause I can take it or leave it.

Oh and, Sisy, some of us follow pro football teams that rival the Pirates in ineptitude (think Lions!) I'm looking more forward to high school football and following the local kids with Ohio State (the Buckeyes will win it all this year!)

It's just plain unfair that you ended up a fan of the Pirates AND the Lions.

I detest the Big 10 (and Notre Dame), but I'll join West Virginia fans in rooting for the Buckeyes against Michigan until Rodriguez is gone.

Ollie, never been an Ohio State fan. Many of them around here are very condesending to my boys at WVU. They usually bring out the worst in Mountaineer fans. BUT...

Since Michigan has dealt below the waist in hiring a certain low life as coach, OSU will have a new fan this November when they beat up the Maize and Blue.

What the hell is a buckeye anyway?

It's funny, I've lived in Cincinnati for quite a while now, and despise OSU. I typically root for the Wolverines in the rivalry game. I just have a very short level of interest for bandwagon fans, and Cincinnati is infested with them for the Buckeyes, even though they don't live in Columbus and probably have never been up to The Shoe for a game. The scarlet t-shirts available at grocery stores come out during the winning seasons. They say they are supporting "the local team". I always question why they don't go out and support the Bearcats instead (who finally have a sound football program going thanks to the signing of former Cenral Michigan/U of M's Brian Kelly)? After all, these are not the same Bengals fans who would also root for the Browns because they're "local" and another Ohio team.

Sis, thenks for the buckeye definition but I kinda knew since there is a tree of them nearby. Just commenting on the stupidity of using that as your calling card at OSU.

And let's go Blue-- I guess I'm a Mclouth kinda guy.

BTW the Mounties are going to be pretty good again, Pat White is still there.

Shark you're absolutely correct in suggesting that the Bearcats have a good program too.

I thought maybe that you lived somewhere that buckeyes didn't grow. Ya never know.

I've heard that said about Pitt and Penn State as well.

Big 10 is the most overrated conference in America.

Yep, except to Big 10 fans, who think it's underrated.

Jeremy you're right about Pitt and Penn State vs WVU.
PSU droppped us when they went BIG TIME (I mean Big 11).

When I was very young the saying here was 'my favorite two teams are WVU and whoever's playing Pitt.'-- Not a lot of love for them.

Wheeling is about equi-distant between Morgantown and Piitsburgh. But you know that those country roads all lead to WEst Virginia. Sorry, I get carried away.

The Buckeyes are generally represented by the nut inside the buckeye "fruit." It has a little black spot on it. I don't think we have many buckeye trees around here.

I rooted against Ohio State for many years, but Jim Tressell is such a likable guy and he began recruiting a lot of Cleveland kids here. Many from one inner city school I follow, Glenville High School. Troy Smith, Ted Ginn Jr., and Donte Whitner all went there. I watched all of them in high school. Ted Ginn's father (Ted Ginn) is the high school coach.

The Buckeyes have seven kids from Glenville on their current roster. Their star running back Chris Wells is also a local kid (Akron, Ohio.) He will win the Heismann this year.

Ohio State plays at USC the third game of the season. That will be a jim dandy! They will breeze through the schedule after that game, either finish 12-0 or 11-1. I think this year's team can compete with the SEC's best.

I'm the biggest Trojan fan east of the Mississippi! Started watching them when I was a kid and loved the horse running around the Coliseum, the wacky band uniforms and the team colors. So they stuck when I got old enough to understand the game. Everything in my rec room that isn't Pittsburgh is USC. The Ohio St. game has been circled for a long time. Even with the dominance they have shown since Pete Carroll got there, "eastern" teams(SEC, Big 10, etc) still give them little respect. The Trojans will play with a chip on their shoulder. If Sanchez(SC QB) is as good as his hype coming out of high school, they are going to be REAL good.
