While reading the PG today, there was an article about the state championship baseball games. I was pleased to see that the AIA is not the only knuckleheaded sports organization around. The piece opened with the fact that the PIAA does no allow teams to take infield before games played at the game site in Altoona. Amazing!!!!!!! Who are these people and how did they ever get into the positions that allow them to make these decisions.

I dont know, but across the board in other sports these guys are knuckleheads...

As for Altoona, I used to just think it was something they didnt allow to speed up the game times...

My Legion Team played an exhibition game there the 2nd season the park was open and we weren't allowed to take any infield or hitting on the field because of time constraints

True. But in the state games as soon as one ends the next one begins. I beleave the games are scheduled something like 10:00 A.M., 1:30, 4:30, 7:00.

That is no excuse. Players not warmed up properly risk injury. The only time you should not get infield is if wet fields are involved. Believe it or not, we had that this spring here in Phoenix. Sounds more like there are PIAA officials, that God forbid, have to stay a little later. That's just not right.

All controversy aside, my old high school, Camp Hill, won one of the state championship games at BCP. Congratulations, guys!

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. My high school team almost never took infield practice before games.

PS: My alma mater happened to be the State AAA runner up this season.
