He's a guy I would love to sign.
40 steels, .400 OBP good defense from a couple of positions that aren't strengths for us (2B and 3B).
He makes it so you can stick Cutch in the 3 hole.
Might be costly, but we offered Jack and Freddy a combined $18 mil over 2 years. I'd much rather spend it on this guy, who is not a walking injury.
His numbers are pretty consistent. He steals a ton every year, and is showing no drop off as he ages.
He doesn't seem to hate us. So maybe you don't have to overpay him horribly to get him to come here.

I agree- that would be a good pick up. If he would ever come to Pgh. It would fit well, and wouldn't mess anything up for 2011.

I can't say I wouldn't want him, but I don't expect it to happen. Way too many teams will be targeting him this offseason.

I'd love to have him but isn't he a full time 3rd basemen now? Would he consider a move to SS? Can he play SS?

Plus I'd love to be at the ballpark yelling Chone! Chone! Chone!

I was thinking the same thing about him when I was perusing the list of 2010 free agents a couple weeks ago. I also am unsure that he will be in our price range.

Marco Scutaro becomes a free agent as well, and we can probably use the middle infield help. I'd be hesitant to sign him for more than $5 million per year, given that he's 33 and is probably having the best season he'll ever have this year.

Quite frankly, we should have $25 mil or more to spend. Obviously I don't think Figgins is worth that much, but I do think someone would overpay (I'm looking at you, Chicago Cubs...).

I think the only way he would fit here is if he could play 2nd. I know he has played a handful of games there the past two years, but having not watched, I don't know if its really a viable option. Can't be worse than DY.
