Around the field, that is. As speculated on this board quite often, the front office is considering moving one or both of them to other positions on the field if Alvarez shows he can play third in the Bigs. Specifically, they said LaRoche could go to second, and Walker to the outfield. So we can start speculating again about that possibility...

It all depends on if LaRoche shows he can hit. Right now, you can't win with him at 3b with warning track power and an average in the .260 range. One or the other has to go up for An.

While Walker does not walk much, he is reportedly as good as anyone on defense, and each year when he is healthy from yet another hand injury, he starts to show power and average.

I have a hard time seeing Pedro losing another 15 lbs and keeping them off. That guy is simply going to grow into 1b.

Welcome to the bigs, Matt Hague!

About the only thing we know for sure next year is that Cutch will be in center. Otherwise a lot of questions and not a lot of answers.

The Pirates have a lot of decisions to make between now and next April.

McCutchen will be in CF and Delwyn Young will be in the order somewhere...If Andy goes to 2nd, then he's probably in RF...Delwyn has proved he can hit...

And his fielding at second has been okay so far. He deserves to start at 2nd base, IMO. His bat is a plus at that position.

As for moving Andy ... that decision is left for next year. Alvarez will join the team, if healthy and still hitting like this in AAA, next season, no earlier than June.

Alvarez can play 3B..I've seen it with my eyes.. the kid can pick it at third..he won't win a gold glove, but he won't embarrass himself. Oh and he can hit a little as well..
