Doug Davis is tough to watch when your team is facing him. He moves the ball in-and-out, up-and-down. Below average fastball, always nibbling, but he has success.

I may be mowing the lawn by the third inning.

:D

And true to form, Davis bobs, weaves, nibbles, bounces pitches, fires up his 82 mph fastball and gets out of the first without giving up a run.

Nate crushed the hanging curve. Davis got away with a pitch when he deserved to be smacked around.

Nice job by Chavez. Hey, Raul, the position is known as "catcher."

I am going to have a lot of spare time this summer.

Maybe I could take up another hobby. Ballroom dancing? Bansai trees? Juggling?

Doug Davis with the endless series of 80 mph "cutters."

A cutter is a crappy slider. Nothing more. Let's see what the Pirates do with this junk.

One of the most hittable looking pitchers I've seen in quite a while. Wow.

Good Lord, how many 80-mph belt-high sliders is Davis going to throw?

If son threw that pitch, I would tell him to scrap it since it is going to be crushed. What a garbage pitch.

Doug "Lollipop" Davis: 2 IP, 2 hits, 2 walks, 0 K's - and 0 runs allowed.

The lawnmower is calling me . . .

This inning - second time through line-up, with 2-3-4 due up - Pirates need to start crushing Davis. If they do not score this inning, it is a sign that I need to get off my ass and mow the lawn.

I'm out. Watching this offense is making me sick.

I know that many have observed that the starting pitching is the team's weakness this season, but the hitting has been dreadful for about 2 weeks, other than the 14-run explosion against St. Louis.

Great AB by Jack. Took what I would guess about 9 pitches before lining one into CF and scoring Chavez. Speaking of Chavez, with his two hits tonight he's now batting .286.
