Oliver Perez will take on former teammate Tom Gorzelanny when the Mets and Pirates wrap up their two-game set on Wednesday at Shea Stadium. Perez, holds a 5.14 career ERA against his old team.

Perez started out strong last Thursday against the Nationals, breezing through four innings before walking the leadoff man in the fifth. He never recovered. The walk turned into a rally, and the rally turned into three runs. By the time Perez's night was complete, he had allowed five runs in all, walking four and taking his first loss.

I guess you have split loyalties, but I am not sure that we should have to tolerate the Mets' logo on our board.

Sorry about that. I wanted to place Oliver's photo here but I did it as I was leaving for work this morning. I didn't know it was so simple to upload an attachment. I should have waited until I got home.

I left work early just to monitor today's game on Gameday. I do feel mixed emotions. I could care less about the Mets but Ollie's my boy. In a perfect world he would still be wearing black and gold.

After seeing that Mets logo, I promptly went home and kicked a laundry bucket... :D

April 22 from msn.foxsports.com Ken Rosenthal writes:

Left-hander Oliver Perez could move into the top tier of free-agent starting pitchers if he produces a second straight 15-win, sub-3.60 ERA season. Perez, who turns 27 on Aug. 15, likely will be the youngest quality starter on the market, but the rap on him is that he doesn't throw enough strikes. He had the fifth-highest walk rate among NL pitchers last season, and ranked sixth after four starts this season.

I guess that walk-rate may be tops after tonight.
