And what are the ballpark guesses as to where the 2010 payroll stands with the current players? Even with guys like Duke hitting the jackpot in arbitration, it's got to be pretty low. If we get poor play from Young, Cedeno, et.al. the rest of the way, might we venture into the FA market this offseason? I know it's thread bare for middle infielders, but possible options would be:

2nd Base
Iwamura
Eckstein
Felipe Lopez

SS
Scutaro
Everett
K. Greene
A. Gonzalez

Wow, after Scutaro, who we would basically have no chance for, it's real thin at SS.

Yeah, it would be dumb to go after Scutaro at this stage. Adam Everett might be a nice stop-gap, he's only making $1 mil this year with the Tigers. Next year's going to be rough, regardless.

I'd love to get Iwamura for 2nd, but I believe TB has an option on him.

Scutaro is probably the only real choice at short.

You're overlooking a possibility of Jack coming back as a free agent next season...

I'm hoping Young can handle the job at second, figuring that Cedeno is a nice utility player but not a starter, and therefore figuring that we have to go out and get a shortstop, either by trade or free agency.

I believe I read the Mariners are picking up his option.

Hasn't he been on the DL all year with anxiety disorder? Not to mention those stellar OBPs under .300...

If we wanted a headcase, we could have kept Snell.

Felipe Lopez could be a fit.

Felipe Lopez is a huge cancer in the clubhouse. I have that from first hand knowledge. He cares about himself and his numbers, nothing else. You might notice that he is moved almost yearly.

I was going to say : "do stadium employees count?!", but this is a better punchline. Good job, buccaroo.

Do they still owe Kendall, Giles, or Matt Morris money?

I'd like Scutaro, but he's going to want to ca$h in...

Khalil would be solid.

Course, all of this is moot is Burgh somehow lands a good IF prospect in the next 24-48 hours...

We'll see.
