I wouldn't be surprised to see several of these guys gone in the next two days. Duke in particular may never have a higher trade value than he has right now. And does NH really want to give Capps a big raise in arbitration?

I say trade Capps. Grabow, and Maholm and keep Duke and Doumit. I just think Duke is for real and that he isn't going to go on a decline. His next start wont be until August and i don't think he have ever been this strong this late in the season.

Particularly in what way? That he will go?

I think Grabow and maybe Capps but I really don't see any of the SPs moving and I don't think Doumit is a sell "high" right now.

We'll find out in the next 24 hours or so.

yep...that he will go. I hope not, but I wonder where the line is (currently) between experienced veterans that we're going to keep and experienced veterans that we'll accept 2 or 3 prospects for is at this point. He has pitched so well and been extremely consistent. He's got to be an attractive morsel for the buyers to consider.

I would be fine with seeing Capps traded. I have seen enough of him and his 6 point something ERA.

The Pirates aren't trading their starters. Maholm, Duke, Ohlendorf, and Morton are safe. There is still little depth in the minors. When Lincoln and Alderson are ready one of these pitchers will be hurt and another will be struggling. None of the pitchers are reaching prime age yet either.

You speak with certainty. Do you have a source for this or is it just your opinion?

I don't see why they wouldn't consider trading Duke. Like it or not, NH has demonstrated through this trade that his target for fielding a truly competitive team is not next season. Duke will be approaching free agency by then. Plus he's certain to get a huge raise via arbitration this winter. Tomorrow afternoon some teams will be desperate for pitching. Dukes value has never been higher. Who knows what NH might be able to get in return?

For the record, I am a huge Zach Duke fan and a part of me would absolutely be saddened to see him go. But I don't think NH should be hanging up on people who call and ask about him.

Just my opinion. Pitchers take so long to develop and maintain that when you have one that you know will be a good pitcher (barring injury) for many years I think you keep him. I could be wrong though, nothing would surprise me!

I would have no problem with trading Capps, Grabow or Duke. Particularly Duke, his value is at an all time high and I dont see him maintaining this pace long term.

Maholm wouldnt bring what he is worth right now and Doumit is a plus bat at catcher. I'd keep him.

DK says other pitcher is Gorzo. No deal in place.

It would have to be a great return to give up Grabow and Gorzo. Giving up Gorzo had never crossed my mind.

That's the way I see it.

No way would I trade Maholm; maybe Duke, but I'd want damned good return.

Put Duke/Maholm on a contending team and they're 15 game winners with ease (IMO).
