The nice thing about making these trades this quickly (aside from or in addition to the fantastic returns) is that we now have 2 days to try to maximize our return for a guy like Grabow (or Capps, though his recent performance makes me doubt we could get fair value for him).

So what can we/should we expect for Grabow? One report I read earlier suggested there were 8 teams after George Sherrill, with Grabow as a leading fallback option. So, that means once Sherrill is traded, there should be 7 teams after Grabow. Can we land another team top-10 prospect?

My gut says we get a high upside, high risk guy. I'd like to see it be someone in the mold of a power hitter if that is the case.

And again, I think it only fair that if people want to criticize the return that they post what they believe to be a fair return BEFORE the trade...

MLBTradeRumors stated that Colorado gave up on Grabow when the Bucs asked for Eric Young Jr. Hopefully as the deadline gets closer, maybe Colorado breaks down and offers up EY.

It amazes me that relievers are such a high commodity item, lefties especially. I'm not sure what we can get for Grabow but even it it's nothing, so be it. I believe he would be a sandwich round pick if he doesn't sign with the Pirates, correct? That wouldn't be bad at all.

I never really cared for EY Jr., but after reading your post I looked up his numbers on baseball-reference...wow. Assuming the OBP carries over to the big leagues, I could live with that. 50 steals already this year?? I worry a bit though in that he is apparently very fast, and playing in Colorado Springs, and only has 17 doubles. Suggests very, very little pop, and at the big league level, pitchers may attack him more because of that, meaning the OBP doesn't translate. Still, that would be a worthwhile gamble for Grabow. In fact, that might be more than we could get for Grabow. But then again, if both Barmes and Tulo are playing middle infield for the Rocks, and Ian Stewart can at least fake his way at 2nd, then he may be effectively blocked.

I've read he is solid defensively as well.

Young Eric Young would look amazing hitting behind Cutch. You think we had speed at the top of the lineup with Nyjer and Cutch? You aint seen nuthin yet.
I find that since the Alderson deal I've been typing things like "you ain't seen nuthin yet" and "bout frickin time"
I'm not illiterate, I'm just exited...really!

Keep him offer him arbitration , and resign him , if possible.
Gotta have someone close to 30 years old on the roster, isn't that a rule?.

If we could get Young for Grabow... wow.

I really just want to get SOMETHING for Grabow and especially Capps.

No rush on Grabow, since a compensation pick wouldn't be all bad either.
