So when will he do a Morton, and become a high upside pitcher, who actually can pitch in the Major Leagues?.

Will he get a shot to make the team in 2010?
Or will he be a piece of the championship team which begins play in 2011?.
Just curious.!!!

Agreed. More of a risk, but I think even if he doesn't achieve his full potential he will still be better than J. Sanchez.

He may very well be, I guess I was just dead set on the names in the rumormill...

My initial confusion/disappointment has came and is slowly starting to pass.

Believe me, if (and when) Alderson contributes to the team, I will be the first to be thrilled and first in line to eat a large piece of humble pie!

Like No. 9 I feel sad to see Freddy and Jack go, almost to the point of crying, despite the fact that I never saw either guy play in person (heck, I rarely see the Pirates on TV.) Freddy was still my favorite.. he conducted himself well in interviews, and the man can hit!

The addition of Alderson lessens the pain somewhat. I'll be listening to minor league games and rooting for the Giants to reach the playoffs (never thought I'd say that! lol)

How soon I forget! I most definitely did see the Buccos three years ago here at (then) Jacobs Field.

Jason Bay smacked two of four Pirate homers, one of his landing two rows ahead of me! I remember my co-worker asking "who the #%@! is Freddy Sanchez?"

I don't remember anything except the homeruns, Ian Snell (walked five in 5 innings), Mike Gonzalez striking out the side in the 9th, and how small Salomon Torres looked. Ha! Ian outduled Jason Johnson who the Indians cut the next day. Ha!

May 20, 2006 Bucs 9, Indians 6 (Pittsburgh wore Homestead Grays jerseys, Indians were Spiders? Buck O'Niell threw out the first pitch.. he recently passed away.)

It's like a Logan's Run-type of purge is taking over the roster. Everyone over or near 30--gone! Look out, Ramon Vazquez.

As much as we all want the Bucs to win, it wasn't going to happen this year. We thank Freddy, Jack and McLouth for their contributions while they were here, but we need to build up a new core of players.

Now just don't do something stupid and sign someone like Derek Bell or Matt Stairs this December.

Wow Oliie! I was at this game too. It was a great atmosphere and a very good game (my first at the Jake). We sat on the Mez in right and the Indians fans in front of us were very nice guys. There was a group of about 30 Bucco Fans all around us so we were real loud. We later ventured through the city causing all sorts of havoc, but that is another story. One of the best games I ever traveled to go see!

Hey, Stairs had that big PH homer in the NLCS last year. If we bring back Littlefield as GM, maybe he'll throw $12 mil a year at Stairs just for that.

Then let me rescind my statement to read; "someone like Derek Bell or CHRIS STYNES". C'mon... no Bucco fan can say anything good about him, right?

urbanexplorer, that's cool! I was in left field. I remember Mc Louth's homer was to right center. I started thinking "we have to play this guy everyday." Ha!

I watched Craig Wilson in batting practice. Zach Duke was shagging fly balls.

During the game a Cleveland fan took a swing at a guy wearing a Steelers jersey (3rd base side.) The Tribe fan was escorted out.
