Apparently our well above average outfielders aren't as popular with the rest of the country as they are with us (go figure). MLB.com's all star vote count http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080603&content_id=2828154&vkey=allstar2008&fext=.jsp has only McLouth in the top 15 for NL outfielders (#11) which is shameful. I think the outfielders are the only ones on the field that deserve a look for the Classic, but I think all 3 do. Our big 3 are #s 2, 3, and 4 in total bases so far this year. Beltran (currently 5th in voting) is 17th. They are in the tops for average, RBI, HR, R, OPS (all above .920). What the heck???

Do your part. GO on there and vote like crazy for these guys that are working hard to win us games.

I voted the maximum number of times for our guys. But my votes were a week ago and in the totals already.
If you guys vote it might help a little.

Maybe make up some email addresses and vote the max a few more times ;)

What does Greg Brown have to do with New Mexico?

Sorry, my reference must have been a bit veiled...Greg Brown urges us to vote for the Pirates for the All Star game roughly 4,349,567,958,412 times per game (that's an average) throughout the month of June. I thought perhaps he had infiltrated our board.

Here's a sure test...do you believe that Bob Walk cheats at the AFLAC Trivia questions, and, if so, would you spend 15 minutes whining about it in the 4th inning every night?

As sad as it is to say, it's up to the player's hometown fan votes to get them in, and Pittsburgh must just not be doing that. McLouth and Nady deserve in, and I voted for them my maximum number of times weeks ago. At that time I didn't consider Bay because, well, it was pre-everything great he has done lately. Average baseball fans in cities like this one still don't know who Nate McLouth is.

I got the Greg Brown reference. I, like you am not a fan of his work. He really is a shill and can only agree with others. Has no original thoughts of his own. And now this year, he has started with the constant harange (sp) about Walk cheating. Who shives a git.

LOL. Good points. Welcome NM. We hope you enjoy yourself here. Greg Brown does whoop it up but what the heck. It has been pretty funny listening to Walkie and Brown go at it over the stupid aflac contest. It used to be you would usually only get the home team feed on DTV MLB package but you get both feeds usually now which is nice.

I apologize for not getting the reference, I don't get many chances to watch the Bucs on TV here in the southwest, and I don't have cable so...I'm relegated to pitch-by-pitch on Gameday or whatever I can get from you guys.

Well, NM welcome to the board. If you count on members for information you're in big trouble. Some just argue to argue, some twist facts to suit their position, some like me are not smart enough to see it, BUT MOSTLY GUYS MAKE YOU LAUGH.

Being a Buc fan requires the ability to laugh about it, so that you don't constantly cry.

Once in awhile you actually can get some real info and often get links with Pirate news in other publications. You found the right place if you're a Pirate fan. See your Dr. for the anti-depressant medication of your choice and tune in daily.

Welcome to the board, NM. Your state is one of my favorites. In which of its fine cities do you live, if one may ask?

Hey Bob, I currently reside in Albuquerque, where I've lived most of my young life so far. Thanks for the welcome!

I would like to vacation in Albuquerque some day. I passed through it once on a cross country drive and I was very impressed.

I would too. Just this spring we passed it and some of the residents were thankful.
They tell me that nearby Santa Fe is just beautiful in the mountains

NM_Bucs, I love it out there. In my late teens my family went to four corners, Carlsbad Caverns and many places. That is one huge cave! My father got a speeding ticket in Hobbs.

Santa Fe is a fun city -- especially the central plaza . . . until you need a parking space. :)

The adobe architecture is impressive, and if you can get out into some of the neighborhoods to see the private homes, you should do so. Even the highway overpasses are designed to look as though they're made of adobe. The city also has some of the best art galleries and souvenir shops you'll find anywhere in the West -- Indian artifacts, baskets, statuary, jewelry, T-shirts, etc. (Yes, you should expect to spend more than a few $$$ there.)

About an hour northeast of Santa Fe (past a dozen or so casinos) is Taos, and that's also worth a visit. Check out the bridge over the Rio Grande Gorge outside town, if you go.

Sounds like the NM Board of Tourism got a hold of some aliases on this board and is plugging away. It is definetly a beautiful state...in a different way than most people are used to, big sky, big mountains, etc. I'm actually moving to Portland, OR at the end of this month or I could host you on a visit to the Land of Enchantment. I take it when the Pirates are aweful (last night) we get by talking about other things...

You catch on quick. Unfortunately we're running out of other things to talk about! Welcome to the board.
